Also Ross Alamedeine. He was from Boston and was a sophomore... just announced on CNN.

Also sounds like that Professor Liviu Librescu did not make it either...at least according to this article...

I don't think I could have found a sadder day, personally I had a chick end things and this, I don't understand people and I doubt anyone ever will. Who thinks it's ok to just go kill multiple people? That is ridiculous... MY heart goes out to all those who need it...

I just heard on msnbc that they are having a hard time identifying the killer because of the way he committed suicide it disfigured his face.

I also fear the backlash of on the asian community, not saying all people but ignorant people, like on 9/11 all muslims were ostracized and then after columbine anyone in a trench coat.

I am sorry if this has brought up before, but I just saw the video that the student shot from outside the school and I cant help but seeing uniformed personnel in what looks like police uniforms doing nothing whatsoever. Again, if this has been brought up, I am sorry, but seeing uniformed personell effctively run away disgusts me. What a horrible, haunting, video.

They have a preliminary ID plus DNA matching and all that other stuff could help, and I'm sure they've worked through a good amount of their steps.

There actually was a university shooting in Australia in 2002. 2 dead at Monash University. 35 were killed in the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 that you eluded to.

Germany? The Erfurt massacre was a school shooting that occurred on April 26, 2002 at the Johann Gutenberg Gymnasium in Erfurt, Germany. Seventeen people were killed before the perpetrator committed suicide, including 14 teachers, 2 students, and 1 police officer.

Asia? The Osaka School Massacre took place on June 8, 2001, at Ikeda Elementary School, an elite primary school affiliated with Osaka Kyoiku University in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. At 10:15 that morning, 37-year-old former janitor Mamoru Takuma entered the school armed with a kitchen knife and began stabbing numerous school children and teachers. He killed eight children, mostly between the ages of seven and eight, and seriously wounded thirteen other children and two teachers. Takuma was later convicted and sentenced to death by hanging. The sentence was executed on September 14, 2004.

UK? The Dunblane massacre was a multiple murder-suicide which occurred at the primary school in the Scottish town of Dunblane on 13 March 1996. It remains the deadliest attack on children in United Kingdom history. Sixteen children and one adult were killed, in addition to the attacker.

Please take any agenda you have out of this thread. This stuff has happened before and all over the world. Blaming American gun laws is being extremely short sighted.

As far as blaming it on "the times", the worst mass murder in US history actually took place in the 1920's. It was bombs, but it was a school building. Killed 45 people. Why? Cuz some wack job was pissed off that his taxes were raised to pay for the building.

Since man's existence crap like this has always happened, and always will. We just live in a different information age.

Anyhow, my prayers to the VT family. A truly horrific, tragic day that I cannot put the proper words to.

Suffice to say, the Monash guy killed two...because all he had access to was a stolen gun and a round...

The Scottish massacre...agaim, that's going back over a decade...their laws were changed IMMEDIATELY after.

As you mentioned...it happened at Port Arthur...laws were changed and it hasn't happened since.


The Osaka massacre...you've just made my case for me. He killed 7 with a KNIFE.

Just imagine if he had the guns and ammunition the guy had at Virginia. He'd of killed 50 more. That's the point. These things will happen regardless, giving these guys as little access to weapons at least cuts the numbers down.

I am sure the students today would have rather he come at them with a knife, like in Japan, than guns and ammo. Maybe he'd have killed one or two...but no way in hell he'd of killed 33.
