Wow, this video is so saddening. He got shot in the arm, and basically witnessed most of the deaths. You can tell he wants to burst into tears but he's probably so emotionally drained and dead inside, that he simply can't cry.

I for one hope the killers identity and story die with him. I hate all the doggone media around these things. Reporting it ad nauseum obviously does nothing for the dead or their families...

I can imagine that these killers want the whole world to feel their pain...want everyone to feel sorry for them that they were pushed to this. I hope this person doesn't get that posthumous satisfaction. I hope he died as the nobody he lived as. The Columbine kids are now infamous, and in some circles they're revered as heroes who fought the system and won. No telling how many troubled and disturbed kids they've inspired.

      God bless those families.

Thanks for all the prayers and concerns.

I live on campus and have been coping with the tragedy. I write for the school paper here, covering football and as a columnist.

Figured you guys could see a sports perspective on the situation.

          Well said Mac.

Nothing will give comfort to the families at this stage. I see a lot of fellas here saying "wish he'd lived, so we could see him face it" etc...

In the Australian case, the killer did live. Martin Bryant.

The whole nation wanted to burn him alive...

Then, when everyone saw him and heard him speak...you saw just how pathetic he was. He had a sub 80 IQ...he lived only with his grandmother, and then alone after she died...

He was a total social misfit.

Since the massacre, he's tried to kill himself 6 times...just a pathetic guy who had nothing going for him.

Over a decade later, no one still knows why he did it.

          Socially ********? Maybe.

Someone upset him once at the massacre site...so he went back to extract revenge? Maybe.

          No one knows.

These guys living or dying doesn't help anyone.

As you say, it's better it all just dies here with him and no one gives him infamy. That won't happen however. He'll be infamous world wide once they name him and every TV pysch will be trying to work out why it happened.

Exactly. If someone shoots two people, even if it is a "domestic dispute," that person is mentally unstable, and if they didn't have any clue as to where the shooter was, they should have done more.

I was finally able to get a hold of my ex's parents and they said she was ok and later last night I finally got a hold of her. She seemed so distant and scarred in general. Definitely not her usual self. She was considering transferring after the escaped convict earlier this year and things leading up to this event. My thoughts and prayers go to the families and friends of those who have lost a love one.

                  He's under survelillance 24 / 7.

Pretty much his only chance is to not eat...or using a dinner knive to slash his wrists etc.

I was watching CNN.COM's pipeline... background chatter. they said the name of the shooter

Soon Poi Cho (I don't know if I'm spelling it right) - sounds Korean (i'm korean, so i should know).

                    More info later.

                    it's

Suffice to say, the Monash guy killed two...because all he had access to was a stolen gun and a round...

The Scottish massacre...agaim, that's going back over a decade...their laws were changed IMMEDIATELY after.

As you mentioned...it happened at Port Arthur...laws were changed and it hasn't happened since.

The Osaka massacre...you've just made my case for me. He killed 7 with a KNIFE.

Just imagine if he had the guns and ammunition the guy had at Virginia. He'd of killed 50 more. That's the point. These things will happen regardless, giving these guys as little access to weapons at least cuts the numbers down.

I am sure the students today would have rather he come at them with a knife, like in Japan, than guns and ammo. Maybe he'd have killed one or two...but no way in hell he'd of killed 33.
Debate? Clearly you have an agenda, and he has a right to disagree with you as do I. Drugs are illegal, but they are easy to buy in todays society. The thugs and psychos will always have guns, and other deadly weapons (Knives, bombs, etc.). Take up all of the guns and innocent people have no way to defend themselves. What are you going to protect yourself with when someone kicks your door down during the middle of the night?

I don't think it'll happen. Muslims had a history of their acts, Koreans and Asians in general really don't have a history. But like you said, I hope it doesn't happen either.

I don't see that happening either, Asian-Americans are definitely not viewed in the same light as Muslims before either this event or 9/11.
