The repercussions of this event have affected me yesterday. I am of Asian descent and was with a friend looking at videos. We went separate ways throughout the store and out of the corner of my eye I could see the manager point in my direction and whisper to her one employee. Any way I would go he would follow me in the aisle over. If I would stop he would stop and act like he was fixing something. If I walked the whole way across the store he would walk the whole way across the store. Finally, I became so aggravated that I told my friend about it and we left. I kind of wanted to ask for suggestions of any extremely violent movies. I know it might be coincidence but there were around 20 people in the store and 7 employees. 6 of the workers were behind the counter not doing anything in particular and the 7th was following me. None of the other people were even being watched. I hope this is just my imagination but I fear that it's not and this sort of thing will probably continue.

That happens to other people everyday. I'm part asian but I don't know if anyone could tell. I hope that doesn't become a common occurence though, following asian-looking people in stores is stupid.

Really, really lame. I find stereotyping groups of people based on the actions of literally 1 person to be perhaps the epitome of numb nuts, primate type thinking. It shouldn't even be considered human behavior. Anybody who does that should be thrown into the Sub-Saharan wilderness to fend for themselves with fellow animals such as lions, gazelles, and elephants.

(serious). I wonder had the shooter been Latino, would young Latino males be profiled and singled out? Because I am Mexican-American and if things like where people start following me in every store I go to, it would be frustrating.

I'm just saying, I've had friends of all races and one time or another I've seen them followed. Yet I've never been followed, unless of course I was with non white people.

But there are plenty of idiots in the world. Because of what happened at Virgina Tech, it wouldn't be far fetched to think that's why he was followed.

I think in the short term, Asian will have to deal with it. Ignorance, just like mental disability, knows no race, creed, class, age, gender, etc. I'm not saying the VT incident will 'blow over', but people will slowly realize that asians (not just south koreans) are not to be feared.

True, but the sad thing is where I am from and were I work Blacks and Mexicans or the majority at J Hall, so people take that and say that blacks and Mexicans are bad. Stero types are bad and wrong, I have a lot of black friends and my step dad is Mexicans. I will say one thing I can't stand THUGS, no matter what color they are! We have a lot of those at J. hall!
