Anyone from Charlotte?
I'm going to relocate to Charlotte pretty soon and I'm currently looking for an apartment. Can anyone give me some insight to what type of neighborhood I should expect. Look at the ratings of apartments right now isn't very promising. What side of town is the good side to live on?

Depends on how much money you want to spend. Where will you be working? What part of town is it in? Re: Anyone from Charlotte?
I'm looking to spend up to $750/mo. I'm still job hunting as we speak. With that said, I have a sizeable start up fund to not rush into a job and still be able to live pretty well.Comment

Mostly depends on where you end up working. I'd recommend the southern side of town.Comment

Re: Anyone from Charlotte?
I've been on the computer all day looking for jobs/apartments. It's driving me nuts!
Thanks for the input, please keep it coming. I'm going down to Charlotte this weekend to scope things out anyways. Should be a very telling trip.Comment

I just got back from NC last night. Pretty nice over there, but too hot for my taste.Comment

Re: Anyone from Charlotte?
Check apartment prices in Pineville, NC as well. That's a small suburb of Charlotte with plenty going on, and it isn't far from downtown Charlotte. There's a big mall in Pineville too (Carolina Place), lots of restaurants, big box stores, stuff like that.Comment

Re: Anyone from Charlotte?
When I saw the original post, I was gonna suggest Pineville, too... When I was scouting Charlotte, that was the area we liked the most. None of the jobs I interviewed for came through, so we wound up in Raleigh... I'd suggest Matthews, too; that was a pretty nice part of town, at least where I was staying.Comment

Re: Anyone from Charlotte?
I would strongly suggest south Charlotte, I live in area called Ballantyne. My wife and I moved here about 2 years ago and I love it. We boguht a house in this area and absolutely love it. The Gamestop I go is the same one Jake Delhomme and some other Panther players and Adam Morrision go to. I met Steve Smith at a gas station off Ballantyne Commons, real cool guy. It's minutes from Pineville and about 15-20 minutes to uptown Charlotte. I live about 10 mintues from the South Carolina border. I'd stay away from East Charlotte unless that's all you can afford.
Good luck.Comment

Yep, I would suggest Ballantyne if you are looking towards the suburbs, or Southpark area if you want to be more in the city.Comment

Nothing in the world can possibly beat southern hospitality.
