Re: Kicking The Soft Drink Habit

I stopped drinking soft drinks a few years ago cold turkey. I used to have 2-4 per day. Luckily I didn't have any headaches or anything (then again I stopped chewing tobacco 3 years ago cold turkey and didn't have any problems doing that either). I guess my body adjusts easily....

The only thing that was hard was not getting a soft drink during lunch at work. The vending machine is free so it was easy to just hit the button and get what I wanted. Stopping at home was easy because I just didn't buy it. Basically I switched to Propel fitness water, water and water with lemon. Now that's all I drink aside from the occasional beer.

much like AuburnAlumni, it seems all I drink now is Lipton Green Tea. If it's not that, it's Crystal Lite "On the Go".

I cut it down when I had my braces, because I didn't want my parents to spend all that money and then me mess it up. This summer I have almost completely quit, because of playing many double-headers in school baseball and the heat. I usually drink water, Gatorade, Apple Juice, or tea.

7 sodas and you are probably dehydrated like a prune.

That's terrible man, you don't even realize the dye in those sodas go straight to your kidneys too.

You need water in your life. Its funny because im certain your body is craving it and you keep trying to satisfy it with carbonated water , sodium and acid.

I had kicked sodas for a while and didn't drink one for an entire year. Eventually caved, but I still today don't drink Coke / Pepsi, only Sprite or Sierra Mist. Not sure how much of a difference that makes but at least those two are caffeine-free.

Will the Caffeine free/diet help any? I have cut down some, but if I have it in front of me I will drink it, had like 4 cans today. I guess thats not terrible, but I hate to imagine how much weight I would lose if I quit. I excersie a lot though, run about a mile and a half each day on the treadmill, been doing it for about a month. At first I would walk and run some, but now I try to run pretty much the whole time. I burn 200 calories each day on it. Is that good. I tryed the propel, it's good, but can get expensive fast if you ask me. How is the type you can make like TEA?

There is no way I stop drinking Coke everyday.

Yeah, Pepsi's just too good to not drink. Plus, if it's loaded with carbs, I'll be gaining weight eventually, which is definitely a good thing. I gag every time I drink water, so that's out of the question. I'll drink the occasional Gatorade, orange juice, and iced tea, but sodas the main drink.

haha you seriously can't tolerate water?
What do you do when your playin ball and don't have a gatorade?

and btw, no matter how skinny you are, gaining weight from drinking soda won't help you in anyway. It'll be pure flab.

I always bring a Gatorade with me, I make it a point not to forget it because if I do, I'm screwed.

I'll gladly take 140 pounds with flab than my current 125 pounds of skin and bone. At least I won't look like I'm about to die.

I just stopped drinking them. Period. For some reason, it's not that difficult to me. I just drink tons of water, juice, & green tea now.

I'm the type of person that if they're in the house I seem to fiend for them. Otherwise I'm pretty good and stick to juice.
