My dog matilda which was 14 years old when she passed away was my favorite pet ever. She died from cancer on Easter night. We came home and walked in, she was laying on the floor and looked like she was asleep. Me and my bro were in my room and my mother comes in and tells us that she had passed away. I still think about her even now. It also looked like she died in her sleep because there was now claw marks on the carpet or anything like that. I was 12 years old at the time. I am 18 now.

Sorry to hear that Eights...........the dog we bought at the beginning of the year has already gotten out twice to the front yard even though we have the backyard locked up. It's very scary when you can't find them and all of a sudden their gone.Comment

Really sucks to lose a pet. Last one I lost was just over a year ago now and I could not stop crying. I really never do but that day I just couldn't stop the tears. You get so attached to your pets and maybe don't realize how much they are truly around until they're gone.New England Patriots

Re: Losing a pet. Man does it suck.
Sorry to hear that man.
I've had a few pets. The last one was a female dog called 'Tess'.
She lived until she was 15.
On her last day, we went to a wedding...the car broke down...and we were back about 4 hours later than expected.
She'd had a stroke while we were away...was laying in her bed area, half dead.
Really crushed me to think she lay there for hours in pain while we were out...
We rushed her to the vet...and she was put down humanely.
10 years on...it still upsets me to think that she was in pain those last few hours.Comment

Always sucks to lose a pet like that. Sorry for your loss. Do you have any plans to get another dog?Comment

Re: Losing a pet. Man does it suck.
No. I honestly don't want another dog for a very long time. She was my first and favorite pet, and nothing can ever replace her. I can't even imagine having another dog until I am on my own and starting up a new family.
I hate to say that she was my favorite pet, but she was. I love my cat, but I've only had him about half as long as I had my dog. I got my dog right before Kindergarten started, and had her one month before my second year in college started. She was basically a sister to me, and it feels as if I lost my sister. I still love my cat, and I am sure when he is gone I will be just as devastated, but at the moment my dog is/was #1.Last edited by Double Eights; 07-26-2007, 10:03 AM.Comment

Re: Losing a pet. Man does it suck.
I never had a pet (other than fish) until 3 years ago when we got our first cat. After saying I never wanted a cat, it didn't take long for me to get attached. My wife wanted to take her back because she was having trouble finding the litter box, but I was too attached to let her go. She's grown into a great, albeit tempermental, cat that I can't imagine not being around. We eventually got another cat to keep her company while we're at work and this cat is the sweetest cat I've ever seen.
Sorry about your loss. I can't imagine losing either of my cats. Anytime they get sick or are acting strange, I get worried. So far they've been pretty healthy and I'm hoping they stay that way for a long time.Comment

Re: Losing a pet. Man does it suck.
I'm sorry bro. Nothing is worse than losing a loved pet. Take some time and just reflect on all the good times.
Just remember...there are thousands of other dogs at shelters who are lost, mistreated, or given the boot. They feel the same way you do right now. When the time is right they are looking for what you are looking for just as much if not more.
I got my German Shepherd from the animal shelter. Rescue dogs make great pets...I think they know that their time is short. Not only do you get a new best friend but you get to save a life as well.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your
dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will
be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat
of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of
such devotion." - Author unknown- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Re: Losing a pet. Man does it suck.
Damn man I know how you feel. Losing a pet you've had around forever is such a tough thing. I remember 5 years ago we had to put our dog down the day after Christmas after a two-week long kidney failure bout. It was the worst Christmas I've ever had.Comment

Re: Losing a pet. Man does it suck.
I'm sorry for your loss man. Right now my dog is 13 and she's getting pretty close to her last days. It's going to be rough because she has been part of my family since I was a kid. I had to even take her with me eventually when I moved out.
Slowly i'm saying my goodbyes and I'm sorry that you didn't have a chance to do that with your dog.Comment
