You could always pick up a Beckett at the store and just look it up. I did this awhile ago to find my prized George Brett rookie card had plummeted in value. It was $100 in the 1980's, last I saw it was $60.

I would also advice to stay away from Tuff Stuff, it seems their pricing is always higher then Beckett and most people use Beckett to determine their pricing, using Tuff Stuff will only give you an inflated idea of what your card is worth. The only time I find Tuff Stuff of any use is for the action figures and McFarlane figures, otherwise its useless imo.

The value of sports cards has plummeted in recent years. There were a bunch of companies that oversaturated the market with different brands and basically collapsed the trading card market in the early 90s. I think there are some efforts to consolidate the remaining companies into one.

I hear that, sports card collecting used to be for kids, now its so expensive that kids cant even afford to collect anyways. Not only have the prices gone up but the amount of cards per pack has decreased, nobody collects sets anymore, rather searching for the inserts, the entire hobby, if you can call it that, has changed and not for the better.

id check ebay, a cards only worth what someone will pay regardless of what a book says.

I still collect baseball cards and regularly buy packs/boxes, but nowadays its all about inserts and memorabilia cards.

I haven't checked a Beckett in years, but my Rookie Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Barry Bonds, MJ, Shaq, Kobe, and A Rod in mint condition probably have went down some. I have a **** load of baseball, and basketball cards from my younger years.

I still collect sets, but thats the only thing I still collect. My parents give me one at Christmas every year, I've got them since 1988. Most of mine are unopened.

I quit collecting in the early 90's when the insert craze just got out of control. You didn't care about the actual cards, they were worthless, you wanted one insert in the pack to be worth a ton. Just got too expensive and not fun.

I didn't really have any cards worth anything, i sold my better ones when I got rid of everything, but the posted prices are nothing if people aren't gonna actually pay that.

I don't even bother with sets anymore. I instead buy a handfull or rookie cards and put them away until few years down the road. I get a handful of busts, and some that end up worth something. I had an Albert Pujols rookie card I initially bought for $5 turn into around $75 on ebay a year ago or so.

Wow. Thats pretty good. Usually you hear about what a card is worth. Not someone actually selling the card for a good amount of profit in return. Congrats!
