On Saturday morning I had to move into a new apartment about 35 minutes north of my current one.

I had to drive to Bridgeport in CT just to get the Uhaul at 7am on Saturday morning. Of course ******* Connecticut decides to close two lanes on both sides of 95 on a Saturday morning in the middle of the summer so there's ungodly traffic jams in both directions.

Once I finally got all of that done on Saturday I went to bed then woke up at 8am on Sunday and had to move our office (my father owns his own company) from the first floor of our building to the third floor. That made Saturday seem like a vacation.

I'm still reeling from it today, I feel like I have jet-lag.

Actually there's a reseach study that I read somewhere on the internet that claims that moving is the third most stressfull thing in life after:

1) Death of a loved one

2) Divorce

Having been through all three...I tend to agree...

Moving doesn't compare to the first two, but it DOES *earmuffs*

Wish I could remember numbers 4-10...

I actually like moving, it's the act of packing and pilfering through all your **** that you haven't looked at in the last 2 years that really sucks. It helped me get rid of a lot of **** tho, well that, and the fact that I could really only take what I could fit in my car because I was driving halfway across the country, and couldn't really come back. Fortunately I didn't have much furniture. But now, my bed is heavy as all get out, and I'm going to HATE having to move it whenever I move out of my current place.

Job loss/career change, living with in-laws, marriage (especially ones involving stepchildren), undergoing major surgery, birth of your first child, heavy debt, serious illness of a loved one, drastic financial change, children leaving home, adult children moving back (sometimes with their own children), buying a house, relocating to a new country...

A lot of those HAVE to be worse than moving.

Well the "moving" part may not be as bad but the whole experience of buying/selling a home AND then moving is a muther.

Try working 12 Hour shifts in a unairconditioned building with it about 90 degrees outside. To top all that off, it has to be at like 85% humidity so no sparks happen.

I'd think being drawn and quartered would be about the only thing I can think of that would be worse than moving.

How about being forced to move 15 hours away WHILE you've got to leave your loved one behind?.... and without any way to know how long you'll be apart... at least a year but possibly 4 years or more..? That's me! Today! Yay!!

Being drawn and quartered is bad too, though.

How about being forced to move 15 hours away WHILE you've got to leave your loved one behind?.... and without any way to know how long you'll be apart... at least a year but possibly 4 years or more..? That's me! Today! Yay!!

Your mom telling you she's leaving for the weekend, you invite 2 girls to your house that will be there Friday (tomorrow), everything is in place, and then your mom decides that she's not leaving anymore.

Tomorrow night's going to be so depressing.

I like the way you think... Unfortunately, she's got another year on her apartment lease in Texas and I'm starting medical school across the country. I'm hoping her job situation will allow her to move sometime soon after her lease runs out (although it may not be possible). I think she would be willing to move, if it's feasible... I'm just going to keep the faith and see what happens.
