    Protein shake suggestions

I'm going to start drinking protein shakes (going to try to drink one for lunch along with some fruits & vegetables) and am looking for some suggestions for brands, flavors, what to add to them, etc.

Anything by Muscle Milk is good, imo. I've had great results using them.

Don't forget to eat healthy though - that's the most important thing. Eating is much better than using a meal replacement shake. You'll notice your body changing much faster by eating healthier...

Are you trying to lose weight or gain muscle? I've never used them before, and am curious as to their uses. Is this like the Slim Fast thing were you drink two shakes instead of eating breakfast and lunch and then eat till you cant move at dinner? LOL

The reason I ask is that I work third and after 6 years I still cant get used to eating a meal at 3 in the morning and am trying to diet. Drinking a shake seems like it would make more sense for me.

I'm not sure what is the best for results but...

The 100% Casein, The 100% Whey, and the No X-Plode proteins, all taste very, very good.

Both. Starting to work out to build some muscle and trying to lose some weight.

A friend at work has been drinking protein shakes for lunch along with some vegetables and he's lost 12 lbs. in 6 weeks. He didn't really work out any of that time and ate a pretty healthy dinner.

It has more to do with diet than a shake. I like protein shakes within a half hour after lifting and right before I go to bed. Cutting out a lot of the needless carbs (pasta, rice, white bread, etc) will help you lose weight very fast. Also getting rid of all sugar in your diet (candy, soda, etc). You get a lot of the carbs and sugar from vegetables and fruit. When not utilized, your carbs will turn into sugar, which will turn into fat. Also, I would recommend trying to eat more frequently, but smaller meals throughout the day - this will speed up your metabolism.

For clarification, NO-Xplode is NOT a protein. Although BSN's (they make NO-Xplode) protein - Synthia 6 - does taste very good. Muscle Milk is the best tasting protein I've ever had.

Don't lie to the guy. 100% Whey is the worst tasting garbage known to man.

I honestly have to hold my nose and chug that crap everyday. Then I immediately drink a bottle of water. I will vomit if I actually end up tasting it.

My older bro eats very healthy and drinks protein shakes. I don't really know what he drinks, but he's been working out for about two years and he's starting to get jacked.

I've only had the vanilla, and it was fine.

I workout at least 4-5 times a week with an A, B, C schedule. I’ll take off 1-3 days to rest my body in between my workouts. A week schedule will look something like this (only 1 day off) : Monday: workout A; Tuesday: workout B; Wednesday: workout C; Thursday: workout A; Friday: day off; Saturday: workout B; Sunday: workout C.
                          <o></o>
This never gives my body time to adjust to my routines. Plus, I always do different exercises during my workouts. Some days I’ll focus on CORE strengthening and others I’ll lift heavy. Varying your routine will produce great results.
                          <o></o>
My diet is also pretty good. I hardly ever eat out and when I do, I always make sure I’m eating well. My meals on a daily basis are something like this:
                          <o></o>
0700 Egg whites on wheat toast (no butter) w/ ¼ of avocado
1000 Apple and peanut butter w/ yogurt
1200 <st1><st1:country-region w:st="on">Turkey</st1:country-region></st1> or tuna sandwich (no cheese)
0100 protein shake (muscle milk - chocolate mint)
                          1400 banana
1600 (prior to workout) toast w/ peanut butter
1830 chicken and veggies; sometimes a salad
                          2130 protein shake before bed
                          <o></o>
Diet is just as important as varying your routines!

NO-Xplode works wonders, just make sure you cycle off of it - it's not the best thing in the world for you....

Sorry for the military time - my job has me adjusted to telling time on a 24hr scale.

any of these products do a number on your internal organs - kidney, liver, etc. I've used it plenty in the past, however, I'm doing my best NOT to use any longer. I think diet and exercise are much more vital to reducing weight and body fat...
