    Re: Protein shake suggestions

Basketball preseason is starting up again for me for high school and we have a strength and conditioning coach Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On days we don't have him we go to the weight room after practice and he tells us what to do the day before. I've got a lifting routine down and all that stuff so my question is:

How much of a boost will I get from eating two eggs, toast, a 700 calorie 50g protein shake every day following my workout? Am I looking at like maybe a 50% boost in results when eating all this after?

Right now I'm 6'1" and weigh around 157 lbs(about 10% body fat). I'm pretty skinny and looking to add some bulk.
    My diet right now:

Breakfast 7 am: Waffle w/ peanut butter.
Lunch 12 pm: Sandwich or something similar. I'm gona start eating more tuna and stuff with a lot of protein.
    After practice 4pm: protein shake w/ 16 ounces of milk.(700 cal 52 g protein)
Dinner 7pm: Varies a lot but I'm gona try to eat something healthy and eat a lot of meat.

What do you guys suggest I change? Is 175 lbs realistic If I follow this for 2-3 months?

Good lord you are a beanpole.

You just have to eat a ton and do so consistently. Also you need to lift pretty hard.

I'm skinny but I'm pretty fast and athletic. I can dunk at 6'1". I've got a 30+ inch vertical and can get 8'3" on standing long jump. I run a 5:45 mile. I'm pretty good at basketball right now and am a borderline starter but if I can put on some meat before season I can probably insure a starting spot.

That's pretty good at being able to dunk at 6-1. I'm 6-3 and can barely get it. But I weigh 210. Good luck with your season and beefing up a bit.

Thanks. Hopefully I can hit 170+ when season comes around.

                Agreed.

Try to take your shakes with some type of meal.

Optimum nutrition whey protein is the best bang for the buck. It doen't taste too bad either. Whatever you do don't buy supplements at GNC. There are alot of websites that sell them at almost half the price. I've ordered from this webiste and highly recommend them.

Yates ProPeptide Protein or IsoPure Zero Carb for your protein powder...

I add Glutamine (from Nutrabio.com- their glutamine is good and inexpensive), Psyllium Husks (from nutritionexpress.com) and Apple Cider Vinegar...and yes I am a beast

(I just drink all this in str8 water)
