Ex, the only reason I came here was because I was 12 years old and had to come with my family.

Ideally, I'd move to a smaller city with "four seasons" and nice people. I need room to breathe and taking half an hour to drive six miles really doesn't cut it for me. I can't wait to move. Don't know when or where it would be, but hopefully it can happen soon enough.

I'd love to go to a place like Portland, or somewhere small in the Northwest. Not a real fan of CA's people and politics at all, so preferably somewhere outside of CA.

I don't know, I guess I try to enjoy it as much as possible. One thing I like about living in LA is the fact that if I want to catch one of my favorite teams in action, I'll have the opportunity to go to a Braves or Suns game when they come to town.

    Oh well, we'll see.

        1.) Fall and spring

        2.) Cali/Utah/Arizona

3.) No state tax...and I don't pay social security tax either.

        4.) Lake Mead/Mt. Charleston

        5.) Everything is 24/7

6.) Concerts/shows...everyone usually stops here sooner or later.

        7.) No bugs/no humidity

I'm totally with you on the four seasons thing.

              Traverse City Michigan.

              1. Very low crime rate.

              2. Location is great. Lakes for the summer sports and hills for the winter sports.

              3. Food. Great resturants and bars.

              4. Minor League Baseball. http://www.traversecitybeachbums.com/ and Jr Hockey http://traversecitynorthstars.com/ Plus we are the training camp home of The Red Wings.

                1. Metro Detroit area means greatest sports city in America according to Sporting News. Milford is centrally located to anything sports related that would be of interest - 30 mins west of Detroit (Tigers, Lions, Wings) -- 20 mins north of Ann Arbor (Michigan) -- 30 mins east of East Lansing (MSU) -- 15 minutes from Auburn Hills (Pistons).

                2. Four seasons -- It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love having all four seasons in one place. The seasons and how the weather is ties directly to my life. If it was sunny and 72 everyday, it wouldn't have the same personality to me. I want HS Football season to be those brisk Fall nights. I want to Ski in the winter. I was Spring training on the calendar to have a feeling outside.

                3. Great concert venues all within 30 minutes. From fulls stadiums to small clubs... outdoor venues to dive bars... Great shows almost every night of the year.

                4. Small town living without being far away from everything you need. Milford is a town of 14,000 and change. Nothing in town in open 24 hours. Everything is within walking distance. However, if you need something at 3:00a, we're still within 5-8 miles of getting it.

                5. Great Lakes -- And I mean that as an adjective. Besides being surrounded by the actual Great Lakes here in Michingan, there are hundreds of great little lakes in and around Milford. Good boating, nice fishing. Lots of fun.

                6. Golf - More courses per capita in Michigan than anywhere else. Milford itself has a number of great courses including my home course - Mystic Creek - which features my favorite hole on the planet - Lakes #8. Here's a shot from the tee box:

                7. Great food - Not only has downtown Milford become famous for their great restaurants including some award winning cuisine, Metro Detroit has such a nice varied culture that you can get any type of food at an authentic spot any day. My personal faves are in Detroit's Mexican Town. Awesome authentic Mexican!

                8. Up North - Michigander's #1 vacation spot is known simply as "Up North". Most folks have summer/weekend homes somewhere else in Michigan. Spots like Traverse City, Mackinac Island, and Port Austin are among my faves.

                9. General Motors Proving Grounds -- GM's main Proving Grounds are in Milford. In fact, a large number of the folks who turned Milford from a little weekend town to an actual township were GM employees. I worked there for 3 years and had quite a few chances to ride the tracks. Really cool... even for folks that aren't into cars.

                10. Windsor, Ontario - Our sister city to the North... well actually...to the South. Good times and great folks over in Windsor. And with a 19 year old drinking age, most Detroiters spend 19-20 as honorary Windsor residents.

Honorable Mention: Proximity to great cities like Chicago and Toronto, Hitsville USA, Close to Cedar Point.
Milford is a cool town. Mystic Creek looks great!! When you get back up my way let's take our wives out and grab a steak at Boone's Long Lake Inn.

Portland is an incredible city, I would probably say the most underrated city in the country. You said it perfectly, there is indeed just a vibe there like no other. There is just something about being able to fish for Pacific Salmon in in a river right in the middle of a big city. No sales tax in Oregon is pretty sweet too.

                    Deal...

Well in TC you have a bunch of great courses too... including Arcadia Bluffs. My Father-In-Law rangers up there in the summer. I think it's the best LINKS style course in the Midwest if not the US.

In TC you also get the Wings training camp. All the bars and golf courses are hoppin' once they get to town. Should be about a week and change from now.

Yep. We have tickets for their camp. Pretty good times from what I hear. I rode around Arcadia Bluffs with some friends that were in town to golf. Great course. Best maintained course around. I can still play but it hurts my hip on my right side so much I limit myself to a few rounds a summer. The Wolverine is my favorite course, close to my house. http://www.grandtraverseresort.com/i...page/pageID/37

Re: The best things about where you live...

Huntsville is decent, but sometimes I'd rather live in Pensacola, FL again though.

But North Alabama has some good things about it.

                        - The Huntsville Stars are here, so I've seen some good prospects come through (Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks most recently). Growing up and visiting Huntsville I got to see McGwire, Canseco, and Tim Hudson.

                        - This is kinda boring, but job-wise it is a really good place to work for my field of expertise because of all the government technology work and NASA stuff around.

                        - The weather is pretty nice, it only gets too hot for a few weeks during the year. I don't like snow, so it is good that it only snows once every 3 years or so and that is hardly considered snow compared to what people just a few hundred miles north get. I like that hurricanes don't really make it here (we just get a little wind and rain). There are no earthquakes, no fires from heat, and just a few tornadoes from time to time.

                        - Getting around the season is pretty good. Road planning was done really well here, so traffic isn't awful.

                        - I wish Auburn was a little closer (4 hours), but lots of places are close by (Atlanta 3.5 hours, B'ham, Chattanooga and Nashville (2 hours)).

                        - There are tons of caves in North Alabama, so that is a fun and unique thing to do if you are into unguided caving.

Overall Huntsville, is ok, just kinda boring sometimes. I spent a lot of time on the beach growing up, so I really miss that during this time of the year, but it's alright living here.

                        Atlanta Braves
                        - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators

                          Knoxville

                          - UT football, followed closely by UT basketball now. Neyland on a Saturday in the fall...can't beat it
                          - revitalized downtown, a new 8 screen state of the art movie theater just opened yesterday. No longer only for the homeless!
                          - 4 distinct seasons. Johnny, you think the humidity is bad in Illinois?
                          - TONS of golf. Greg Norman just opened up Tennessee National about 15 minutes outside of the city limits. If you play there, you are guaranteed to choke at least 7 strokes away each round.
                          - The general economic boom of the area. Forbes just named the Knoxville/Oak Ridge area as one of the top 5 places in the country to start a business.
                          - There are two distinct nightlife areas. One is the "old city" which is a little farther away from campus and for the slightly older than college crowd and then when you want to rob the cradle, you head to campus.
                          - The fact that there are 14,000+ college aged females.
                          - Job Market
                          - Cost of living
                          - Manners/"Southern" way of doing things
                          - Numerous lakes/rivers all over. 30 minutes from the mountains
                          - Within a half a day drive of something like 70% of the US population
                          - Southern girls in general

Morganville, NJ (pretty much in the central of NJ, like 15 miles from the shore)

                            - Less than an hour to NYC
                            - Tons of pro sports teams - Yankees, Mets, Jets, Giants, Knicks, Nets, Devils, Islanders, Rangers
                            - 20 minutes away from the beach
                            - 4 seasons
                            - Low gas prices (car insurance sucks though)
                            - Food is good for the most part
                            - 10 minutes from most retail stores and a mall.
