Re: The WORST things about where you live...
- Cost of living, way too expensive. Forget about car insurance.
- Traffic. It takes me some times an hour and a half, for what is a 5-10 mile trip.
- Crime, not much in my city but the surrounding cities.
- Giants fans.Comment

Re: The WORST things about where you live...
The only thing I don't like about my area is the public transportation. It sucks. I guess it's improving but, going to school in Chicago...I was spoiled.-Jay Illestrate, Emcee/Producer/Graphic Artist

Re: The WORST things about where you live...
Metro Detroit, MI (in no particular order)
1. The Economy -- Worst in the country right now. Unemployment is the highest. Foreclosures left and right. With the US Automakers in the crapper, Detroit needs to start finding a new source of industry or we're screwed. GOOGLE opening in Ann Arbor could be a nice first step, but a lot more needs to happen.
2. Potholes - That's one of the bitches about having all four seasons... 100 in the summer to 20 below in the winter will kill the roads.
3. That smell coming up from Ohio. Turns my stomach just thinking about it.
4. Property taxes are high - Especially if you're too close to water. In my town, I even get double-dipped because I live in the Village of Milford which is inside the Township of Milford... so I pay Village and Township taxes. Grrrrr.
5. Humidity
6. No public transportation - Besides a ****ty SMART bus system and the people mover downtown... there is no way to get anywhere without a car. Something that was very intentional for the Motor City... but I'm very jealous of cities like Chicago that have great public transportation system extending all the way out to the burbs.
7. Detroit Metro Airport - Worst, worst airport. If you've ever had a layover here (especially the old Smith Terminal - the new Northwest Terminal is OK) you know what I mean.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

Psh, you live in MICHIGAN, there's only TWO seasons: Winter and construction.
And yes...the SMART bus is a disgrace.Comment

That would make it enough for me to move. What are your reasons for staying?Comment

Re: The WORST things about where you live...
1.) Meth...the root of all evil in Vegas. I hate "tweakers" with a passion.
2.) Girls...are there any normal ones out here?
3.) 102 degrees...at 4 a.m.
4.) No culture, no professional sports teams, no history.
5.) No thunderstorms
6.) No rolling hills/big trees...just brown...everywhere.Last edited by McLite; 08-28-2007, 02:29 AM.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

1,3, and 6 can be added to my Phoenix list also. The meth problem here and I'm sure many places has gone out of control.Comment

Re: The WORST things about where you live...
Mentor, OH (in no particular order)
1. Humidity, hate it!
2. Foreclosures of houses everywhere. Just a horrible home market right now, glad I have mine already in place, would hate to be selling a house right now.
3. The stench coming from that state up north. Sometimes their homeless even come into our state.. UGH
4. Road construction seems to always be going on.
5. Teaching jobs, it's one of the worst in the country, took my wife 5 years to get a job.Comment
