Well, that's a though one. It's nice to have so much money so u don't have to work and all that, but for how long can a person ride limo's, drive his yacht and his Corvette (or whatever)? It's sucking all the challenge out of life IMO. I really wish I had a lot of money but not too much or life would become boring and too easy. It's easy to say: "If I had that money I would buy this and that, quit my job etc.", but what's next? How long can u have fun? I mean unless u have a challenge to double your money somehow or something, I think it may not bring happiness. That's my opinion.

Just because you win the lottery doesn't mean you have to quit your job, or go into seclusion. If I won, I would finish college, but afterwards I would spend the majority of my time travelling. I might look for a part-time job so I have daily interaction with others. However, other than a part-time job, I would never work another day in my life.

I would absolutely love to be able to just travel the world with no worries about being home in time to get back to work or school. I could take month long vacations with my family and friends. It would be absolutely awesome.

Imagine not having to get up at 6:00am every morning to go to school or to go to work. With a big enough lottery payout, you could give your family and friends enough to quit their jobs as well. You could travel the world, just hang out on your yacht, go to sports game across the country you wouldn't normally see.

It would be awesome. Too bad the chances of that happening are not in my favor.

I've often thought about that. I think the fact that I had money would make the work easier. Of course, my performance might suffer because, deep down inside, I knew that I didn't need the job, and had the means to walk away whenever the feeling suited me... The trick would be to find something I enjoy and make it a hobby. That way I'd keep my mind challenged, but not owned by a job.

Hmm, I win the lotto, I'd invest some, give some to charity, hold on to about 5-10 million for myself, and send the rest to my family. Assuming the lotto is at 200 Mil or however high it gets.

The Mega Millions Lottery that is here in Michigan and well as a few other states has swelled to $250 million for tonight's drawing. Now, I'm not a lottery player. If I'm gonna gamble, I want a little more control over my fate than some wind blown ping pong balls. However, whenever it makes it north of $150 or $200 million, I can't help but scoop up a couple of tickets for the hell of it. Can't win if you don't play, right?

So, with that, comes the unavoidable pondering of what you would do with that kind of dough.

With a $250 million dollar jackpot (won outright by one person), most people would take the "lump sum payout" which would be about $160 million. Estimating on the highside that Uncle Sam is going to grab somewhere around 40% of that (give or take), you are looking at a payout of about $96,000,000.00. If you put that in a basic savings account that pulled only 2% interest, you'd be making about $1.9 million every year just on the interest.

So... that begs the question... realistically.... what would you do with that kind of money?????

The correct answer is first start a charitable trust so you can direct all the blood-suckers to it and get the heck away from where you live for some lengthy period of time. There are too many horror stories of what happens when you just try to do what you've been doing all along but with $50+ million in the bank. Really, I could pick a couple of my friends who would be toast. No way they handle uber-rich Lomb well.

Me, I would buy or build a semi-private golf course. Price it just high enough so it doesn't get too much play and enjoy it. I'd probably buy some other crap I don't really care about like an M5, a couple guitars, and that giant Pedro Martinez bobble head that was in the Sox dugout a few years ago. I'd also have Hoegardden on tap. I like nice things just like the next guy but I'm really not that material a person. I think I'd like a place in Newport and a place on Beacon Hill. It's easy to burn money on properties.

If i won the lottery I'd give out money randomly to people who help me doing random things, like changing a tire, to reward people for doing good deeds. Also I'd have a posse of guys who would be my buddies, just to hang around and drink and play videogames with.
