I went to my doctor last week for severe and intolerable pain in my right side, only to end up in the hospital for kidney stones. I never dreamed that the first time that I would ever spend a night in the hospital it would be because of a kidney stone.
I was just curious as to how many fellow os'ers have had kidney stones and what measures you and/or your doctor have/are taking to either prevent others or to cure the one that you had.
I have 3 stones(at least I did last week. I have one now), and I am going to my doctor again today to see if the large one(size of a marble) is still in my kidney or if its moving. If its moving, then I have to either have a surgery where they break it down to make it passable, or have surgery where they go and take it out and then place stints in so that I can easily pass any stones that may form later down the road.
I am 28 years old and was told that my chances of developing another stone within the next 5 years is about 65%. I don't like those odds.
Sorry for posting this, but was just curious as to what I may be looking forward to and find some other people that know the kind of pain that I went through as nobody that I associate with has had a stone and seem to "joke" at the fact that I was in the hospital for this condition.
