Ford sucks...seriously, who buys American cars anymore? Start from that point and then analyze the salary potential. CJ boring some guy to death with talk about the Cowboys being America's team, buy American with Ford, I go to Rutgers, blah blah whatever.

Uneducated? Have you mistaken New Jersey, for a southern state? How about the fact that NJ is Top 2, depending on what you use, in income for the population of the state? NJ and CT are 1 and 2, depending on the criteria.

Woah now!!!!!! Southern States are educated too. Just steer clear of the trailer parks in Miss and Bama/Buncombe County of NC, and you can meet some intelligent men and women. LOL at EG's fuzzy math. As for your question. If you did some research of the company throw some figures out at them. Trust me if you have some research it helps getting jobs. Means you are very interested, and well informed. That goes for any job.

Everything went well, then he asked how many hours I can give a week. I said 35-40, he said that they were looking for someone who can do more like 46-54, and that was the end of the interview. Had it in the bag. Back to the drawing board.

At least $500 a week to start at a dealership? I don't believe that. That's 50K a year. I'm guessing that means UP TO $500 a week with commissions. Since car sales is all commission.

Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable buying a car from an 18 year old/or somebody that looked really young. When I went car shopping, I stayed clear of the younger looking guys.

I go in with the assumption that the older guys probably have more sales experience/knowledge than a young looking sales rep.

That is what I was thinking when I saw the $500/wk, that is not all that much when you are working 50 hours a week. What are you going to school for? I would recommend trying to find something related, get your foot in the door and get some experience.

CJ, whatever you do, tell them domestics are a dying portion of the auto industry. Imports make longer lasting cars, are typically more fuel efficient and sell more.

Need another year, then I can do some accounting internships. Plus this area(NY Metropolitan Area) is filled with internships I can do.

BTW the guy said it would be 40-80K, depending on commission, for working 50 hours.

I have a buddy who is in car sales and he works about 80 hours a week. He hates it but can't find anything else where he makes the money he makes, and he can't quit because of the bills. No education...no opportunities.
