Re: Six Years Later - Never Forget
gosh... I woke up early today & flipped on the memorial service.. I will never forget that day, and very thankful that my dad's meeting at the WTC was cancelled the day before, & that my buddy who worked in the Pentagon at the time was ok. Sadly, 5 people I knew perished in the tragedy...
I can still remember my mom coming home from work & just grabbing the whole family for a hug & all of us crying..
God Bless the known & unkown heroes of that day, and may all that died that day Rest In Peace....Comment

Re: Six Years Later - Never Forget
It happened for me during my 11th grade year. I was in 1st period art class, they mentioned something about terroritst acts. Well before that class had started, I remember hearing about someone spray painting the school sign. I figured they were talking about that initially.
Then in my 2nd period class, it was US Government and we sat in that class the entire time and watched. Seeing the 2nd tower hit then finding out about the Pentagon.
Then in homeroom, watching the 2nd Tower collapse, then going to tell my grandmother about it afterwards (she taught second grade) and burst into tears.
It's amazing that what should've been just a random Tuesday in 2001 that most people wouldn't have remembered, became a day which will never be forgotten.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: Six Years Later - Never Forget
You know I really wish the government would make September 11th and December 7th national holidays. If the dates were holidays, I would hope that folks would reflect on exactly what happened on those days and remember those who lost their lives in such a terrible fashion.Comment

I was at work in the Prudential Building (2nd tallest building in Boston). When I got to work somebody said that a plane had hit the WTC. We were thinking a small plane at the time. They evacuated us immediately after the second plane hit.
I remember watching the rest of the coverage back at my apartment with my college roommates. Definitely a day I will never forget.Comment

I was at work at Delta just wondering if it was one of our planes. We were all sent home and I just sat there in front of the tv for hours and hours just in total shock. Can't believe it has been 6 years. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Not only is it, arguably, the worst thing to ever happen on US soil...but you know with the sick world we live in today someone will do something, sooner or later, on this day once again. It's a horrible thought, but it is what happens in the world.
I'll never forget this day, though. I was in 8th grade, our school refused to tell us what happened...all they said was "There has been a national tragedy." Teachers wouldn't tell us, we were kept completely in the dark. I walk in and go downstairs and see my mom, both sisters, and my sister's friend sitting downstairs and I saw the footage for the first time...that memory is burned into my head for good.Comment

Got to work early the next day, parked and had 2 armed SWAT members stick their gun at me wondering what I was doing, since I got to work at 5AM. I realized how much the world changed right then.Comment

Honestly, I don't. The first year or 2, yeah. After that, it'll be another excuse for department stores to have big sales. Labor Day sale, Memorial Day sale weekend, and 9/11 Day sales. It would get as disgusting.

I was in Tower City in Downtown Cleveland when it happened. We got evactuated, and then heard that United 93 was over us later on. Very scary, surreal day. Took me over 3 hours to drive home due to traffic, it was a 30 minute normal drive. Got home, everything was closed, malls, McDonalds, etc. I sat on my couch watching CNN all day/night.

At work we have 13-month calenders that were handed out by our employer that has this day listed as Patriot Day. I don't know who made them nor do I know where my company buys them from but the calender is titled "Celebrate America."Comment
