Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Miss my Charter internet from back home.

I have Americable here. It's decent enough, but expensive. I split with my roommate and it's 80$ a month for only 15mb/s. DL.

It's enough for us and downloads are pretty good. Online gaming has it's sketchy moments, though. It's better than no internet at all.

I'm jealous of you guys with better options. My charter back home was on fire and we had three people using it heavily.

It honestly feels that way. This will be the third straight day we'll have to set it right and the fifth time in the last month. That's just ridiculous.

At least it's expediting the process of us switching to Verizon.

lol the tv stuff they have (no wires) sounds cool, but i know my internet would suck so not worth it....not sure i'd be saving that much either.

Also easier to do internet and cable with same company, i'd probably still pay a bit if I had to split it and use DirectTV or someone.

The only thing that annoys me is that I can't just find a movie OnDemand and play it like I could with cable. I have to wait for it to download first. However, an entire year of free NFL football every weekend more than makes up for that.

I hear you. The Sunday Ticket isn't enough for me to make a permanent switch though. There's usually good games on primetime anyway.

Doesn't matter if it shows 99%. It's more of a formality when they show you it. There's no difference from 75-99% in most cases.

Whoever installed it installed it improperly. That's all there is to it. Something is loose somewhere that he didn't care to tighten all the way or there's a bad part.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

I have Dish for TV and Comcast for internet. I love Dish.. never had an outage or any poor experience. But I'm hoping to get rid of TV altogether when our contract is up in February.

Comcast is usually horrific, but I actually called to get my service set up in the place I'm moving to soon, and the guy was really helpful. He tried to sell me stuff, but didn't push and even offered to reset the promotional period when we move to the new place so I get a fresh 12 months.

They also have a new deal where they double the internet speed for $5 extra per month. So we'll be getting up to 50 mbps for $50, and he said at some point next year they're going to be doubling the speeds for everyone who signed up for the upgrade as a test period before putting out their super high speed packages or something.

Yeah. I have a similar story. Still remember the time last year when we were having Comcast problems in the house and a tech came out. He went up to the attic to look around, only to come down, asking who did the wiring. It was a previous Comcast guy and he had put a booster in. The Comcast guy looked at us and goes "wow, whoever did that wiring was an idiot" and tried to charge us a fee to fix it .

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

I actually chatted with Comcast on Monday to downgrade my service. I went from digital preferred to digital economy since I rarely watch TV while keeping the same (or maybe even faster) internet. The lady said my bill should be around $99 a month compared to $156 that I would have to pay with my old plan. It was a breeze with no hassle. The lady even thanked me being so easy to work with as (apparently) most people tend to get argumentative and and such when changing their plans.

Interestingly, later that day one of my cousin's posted on Facebook about her recent bad experience with them and some other relatives commented about their own bad experiences.

I did have some issues with them when I first moved into my apartment and was waiting for them to come and hook it up. They were supposed to come Monday morning before classes started for graduate school, but they never showed. Ended up having to wait until Wednesday morning by which time classes had started so my mom had to go in late to work so she could be at my apartment to let in the Comcast guy while I was in class.

LOL sounds like some kind of messed up "good cop,bad cop" thing but with cable guys. One guy is bad and other one is all nice, but in the end, they have a hidden agenda,in this case its to charge you to fix a problem they created
