I'm all for being patriotic, but I'd be all for my State/County banning fireworks being shot outside of NYE and the 4th. At least anything that goes up in the air and has a loud explosion. Mainly because of the impact it has on dogs.

People all over seem to just want some random excuse to have fireworks. And I'd say 90% of the time it'd be people between ages of 16-24 or something who are the ones doing the fireworks on days that aren't holidays.

I heard people setting off fireworks last night around 11pm-1am, and obviously I'm not in the USA,so that just makes it even more pointless to have them last night. It's illegal to do so,but seems like nobody has ever gotten in trouble for setting off fireworks in middle of the night.

I called the cops repeatedly last year when I first moved back to the Denver area because of people shooting off fireworks. It was every night from mid-June to mid-July and the cops never could do anything. They drove by, but unless they catch people in the act, there isn't much they can do about it.

My dog gets really scared from loud noises, so I'm always worried she's going to have a heart attack or something.

Y'all would hate the bay area. How about fireworks in February? Chinese new year fireworks lasts for a week at least. Every year. They are completely 100% illegal year around but it doesn't stop anything.

Traffic slowing up to look at something on the side of the road, like a fender bender or absolutely nothing at all.

Although sometimes I'm equally as relieved that's the reason for the traffic, because normally there isn't any thereafter.

The idiot dog owners who don't keep their dogs inside on the 4th. You know some idiot is going to be shooting off fireworks even if it's illegal in the area. Even the most badass dog doesn't like loud pops. My brother's dog was fine with them for about 7 years, then all of a sudden one year they find him cowering behind the couch. Later in the year we were shooting guns about half a mile away and he was hiding in the house because he could hear it.

The logic of this post makes no sense.

Fireworks can still be heard inside of the house and will scare the dog regardless.

But the dog can't run off and get lost or hit by a car if it's inside. Also, it wouldn't be quite as loud inside as outside especially if the house has central aC and all windows are closed.

                      The first part yes.....
But if it's anywhere remotely close in or out is not going to matter much.....the dogs effected are going to freak.
This fourth was a nightmare for my oldest dog Chloe. She was under my desk.....so I turned on all my consoles and had my PC going to mask the noise for her.
She used to go to the laundry room and we'd turn on the dryer....and it would help(a little)...but my desk is where she goes now....
My Bordernese.....she loves it...goes out and starts barking and howling at fireworks or thunder.( I don't let her though)

I don't wish for fireworks to be gone....(although it is a bit much and those using them could really give a **** about what they are "celebrating...."....let's be honest there)....I really wish my dog wasn't bothered by it.

The thing that bothers me is there isn't a way to shield my dog from the explosions even while inside. The guys in my parking lot fire them off about 50-100 feet from my window. This one guy doesn't even light anything sparkly, he'll just open his door, walk out on the balcony, light off a noisemaker and throw it over the edge, BOOM, walk back inside. It's like he's doing it just to be a nuisance because he knows he can.

I'm not anti-fireworks, I just wish people could go enjoy them somewhere that won't bother people who don't like fireworks.

Trur, but dogs have to go out at some point to do their business. Can't very well do that if neighbors are doing fireworks all day long.

I'm not anti-fireworks, I just think people should generally be a little more thoughtful and light them off somewhere away from crowded residential areas.

You also have to think of the soldiers who suffer from ptsd. I'll never forget my uncle crying in the bathroom when a bunch went off by his house.

There's a big discussion in the military community about that. If vets should put a sign in the yard about them having ptsd during the 4th. Some say deal with it. Some have different opinions.

For new years, I hung out with some people and we had fireworks. What I noticed is that so many people apparently do this.

They aren't even fireworks, they're just these loud explosive things that are just designed to make noises louder than fireworks, without having anything to look at. It was real annoying. It's already annoying to me hearing it from inside, but hearing it up close, and like 10 feet away....don't know how my ears didn't kill after that.
