Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

When you coming out of parking lot trying to turn right, but you can't because the person in the left lane pulled all the way forward and you can't see passed them. Now I drive a truck so most of the time I can deal with it if the other person is in a car, because I can see easily over their much lower car. But when another truck does it, yeah, can't see anything.

That is just as bad as when you trying to turn right out of a parking lot and you see a car coming so you sit there and at the last moment they turn their signal on and turn into the parking lot. I be thinking damn it if you turned on your signal much earlier like you suppose to do, I could have been turned out the parking lot. People in New England do this all the time, drives me nuts when they wait until they are at the turn before they turn on their signal.

My third grinder is, if it is raining outside, turn on your freaking headlights.

Better then than a month later. We are eliminating a lot of people over the next year. First round get their notices the week before Thanksgiving. But that'll be it until 2016.

That first one, while annoying for you, is for safety for them. It's like that at the front of my neighborhood. I have to pull out as far as possible making a left on to a busy road because to the left are a ton of hanging trees and bushes. My sister-in-law got t-boned coming out a couple years ago. New driver, she probably didn't pull out far enough and just guessed.

Just because there's a stop line doesn't mean you can't pull forward so you can actually see what's coming. Not totally sure, but I believe the "edge" of the curb/gutter/whatever is the true stopping point.

The others I'm on board with. Especially headlights, especially just as the clocks change. The most dangerous time is that dusk where the sky is light but on the ground it's dark. Like it's dark enough that you can't see your dashboard that well, that means you gotta turn on your headlights.

Hell, I've taken to using my headlights almost all the time. My uncle made a great point recently that that extra light/brightness may be the difference in someone cutting you off or not.

If it is trees or bushes then that is one thing, but when there is nothing but street and nothing blocking your vision, there is no need at all to pull that far forward in the left lane.

Isn't it state law to have your lights on if your wipers are turned on too? Maybe that's just specific to NC.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Depends on the state, but yes in some states that is the law. Police rarely if ever enforce it though.

It wasn't law in Ohio until several years ago. Annoyed me to know end when it'd be pouring rain and a white car would just blend in and not even bother to turn on your headlights.

Same thing goes to those who won't turn them on at night. I know I've complained about the number that did it in Delaware, but I saw someone here do it other night. In a black car and it's dark. I just flashed my brights at them all the way down the road until I turned off to my neighborhood. They never got the hint. You couldn't see them until you were a few car lengths behind them, out here with no street lights.

This always bugs me. If it's not clear for me turning right, then it's not clear for you turning left, you don't have precedent in this situation left turner!

To counter this, sometimes I pull up far enough behind the left turner so that I can see the traffic flow to the left from behind them, or through their own window

I hate ants. I swear an ant mound pops up everyday. I spray and spray and put power down but no the ants still come. I even made a small porch. There's sand and a tarp thing underneath the stones and yet the ants build mounds on the stones too. **** ants.

That's one of the few good parts of winter in the north east, once it gets cold insects just suddenly disappear.

Where I lived in Alaska they pretty much had no insects. It was nice.

We didn't have mosquitos in Anchorage. I always heard they were bad further inland but I never saw any in the 3 years I was in Anchorage.

I spent one year on base, 1 year near the airport and 1 year somewhere else in town.
