I can never say nearly enough bad things about stupid and impatient drivers.

A few days ago, I was on my way to pick up my nephew from school, I was almost to a stop sign, still a little ways before applying the brakes, when all of a sudden this car comes speeding from my right side to pass me and drive ahead and get to the same stop sign. I was going the speed limit, too.

Sadly there are are people (idiots) who think that getting from point A to point B the fastest makes you a good driver. It's like dealing with small children.

What's more gear grinding? Co-workers telling you about their brackets or their fantasy team?

Toss up for me I guess. Fantasy last longer so I guess is I had to pick one that would be it.

My gear grinder involves traffic as well. We live on a two lane road that's extremely busy and is currently being made into a four line.

When an ambulance comes through, (which is often because people can't drive) most people pull over to the side to let the emergency vehicle around. The problem comes when the cars behind the ambulance decide to be douches and not let the cars that pulled off the road back in.

I saw it today and once last week. I guess common courtesy isn't so common anymore.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

I have two today and they both have the same problem.

Cell Phone & Cable companies absolutely price gouging the **** out of their customers.

                      1) So I just learned AT&T removed the "last gen" iphones from their lineup when you upgrade with a two year contract. You use to be able to get a generation back iphone for 99 cents with the upgrade.......no more!

Now they force you to either buy the phone out right or use the "next" plan to pay installments over two years for the phone. Then if you choose to USE the next plan they knock off $10 bucks or so on your line fee. So it doesn't matter if you choose to get a old piece of crap phone OR go with a extra $20+ a month brand spanking new "next" plan phone, you are coming out with similar monthly notes.

Its all about screwing the customer for the most money.

                      2) Cable companies are known for hiding their "New customer" prices from current customers. They use cookies which will default you to a slightly different webpage which doesn't display new customer sign up prices. Do a cookie clear then go look at your current providers new sign up prices.

                      $49.99 a month 250+ channels.....yadda yadda......sooooooo explain to me why I'm paying $110 a month for same package?!?!?!?!

Now I've been doing this routine for several years now and I'll explain for others if you've never done it. So I call and tell them I want to cancel my service. They ask why and I'll explain their prices are to high. At this point they will transfer you to a "retention specialist" which will give you a awesome low low price of "How does $86 a month sound?". I then play hard ball and say "NO, I want the $49.99 a month rate you are giving to new sign ups. I've been with you guys for 6 years now and you are making me foot the bill for new people.........ya'll running a Bernie Sanders socialist company over there?"

After some back and forth they always come down to the sign up price. It will be much shorter terms like 3 months to 6 months BUT it saves from wasting money.

Anyway, my current terms are up for my cable company and my bill is jumping from $56 to $106 this month, so I'm off to do battle again but really don't feel like it.

Side Note: Third gear grinder..............Cable companies putting the channels you want on ONLY the high price packages. Ohhhhh of course AMC, Bravo(my wife), Fox Sports 1, etc are only on the 250+ channel packages at $100 plus a month........seems logical I should waste money for a bunch of wasted channels I'll never watch

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

The cellphone one bugs me too. I haven't "upgraded" my cellphone in about 3 years. Family was discussing the new payment plans at Thanksgiving dinner and unaware of the changes I thought they had come from Mars.

But no. No more "cheap" phones or price breaks. Buying phones outright or making payments for a phone is the new thing now. Lame. I cannot bring myself to setup a monthly payment for a freaking phone.

I suppose the consumers brought it upon themselves, however. Jumping on the next iteration of phone and showing that they don't care how much they pay so long as they have the new, slightly updated model.

I'm not looking forward to the next time I upgrade my phone. I've got a cheap plan grandfathered in, so I've always done the 2-year upgrade with a discount. But that's gone now.

And next month, I get to play the game with AT&T where I get them to cut my Uverse bill. That's always fun too.

Out of curiosity I scanned some of Verizon's offerings for new phones. Some of these phones are rivaling rent/mortgage payments. Insane.

I'll just go back to smoke signals.
