Then maybe it's just a Bay Area thing, but you'll see people where other-colored team hats all the time. Not just Giants, but when they do you'll see that one, a red one, all black, black with white writing, etc.

I'll check a hat store next time and show you what's on the racks. It's sad.

I just can't do it, i can't buy a a hat from another team. It sucks sometimes because I like the Knicks colorways a lot. My favorite color is gray anyways so almost every team makes a gray hat.

Also the older I get, the less I care about matching. Its probably due to where I live too since the attire is board/basketball shorts and a tank top or no shirt every day.

The non-team color hats always bothered me. Luckily the black-on-black and white-on-white fad has died off for the most part. I'm not sure the last time I saw one of those.

Mike gets it. I could never bring myself to wear another teams logo or colors. It'd feel like I'm cheating on my woman.

I like the stories on how y'all found your non local teams though. Grandpa (mom's side) was a Giants fan, that made my dad be a Dodgers fan (he's just a spiteful kinda guy). I couldn't choose between the two sides so my brother and I became Oakland fans and pissed them both off.

I grew up in Montana and the Broncos were the football team my dad raised me on. I had a few rebellious years when I became a Cowboy fan just to defy my dad but I remember one year watching a preseason game between the Cowboys and Broncos and I realized I was rooting for the Broncos to win despite having a Cowboys jersey on (relatively young).

The Rockies didn't exist so for baseball and my dad was a Yankees fan and even at a young age I knew that was wrong. I was at liberty of what I saw on TV and the A's were good so I saw them a lot and loved their uniform colors (and subsequently played with Texas in Bases Loaded for the same reason). I was seven so I had no idea about the context of what being a good team meant. I've stuck with them since I was seven through all their ups and downs and burned a hat I had signed by Jason Giambi along the way.

For hockey I was a Blackhawks fan because of Blades of Steal but lived in Colorado when the Avalanche started so it was natural and easy to follow them as still a very young boy.

Ouch! The strike turned me off of baseball for a few years and then him signing with the Yankees after getting back into the sport definitely was a gut check and was a building block for how to be an A's fan.

You mentioning the Rockies reminded me that I did get one of their hats when they expanded in. I guess I was looking for an NL team to root for. That's the closest I've been to switching alliances. The strike killed that to though.

It's funny, my dad worked in radio and was able to get us tickets to the inaugural game at Coors Field (obviously they played at Mile High before that) but he wouldn't let my brother and I go because we got into a fight with each other playing roller hockey lol.

Naw. I'm like you. I'll wear whatever matches what I have on as long as it's the team colors. I have a team color Cinncy, Rays, Bucs, Magic, Pirates, Dolphins, 49ers, and Seahawks. The off colors I have is a grey with black letters Rays, and black with white letters Braves

I do the same thing. I have about 20 hats of various teams. I'll wear one of the team I root for when I can, but if it clashes, I have other hats to wear that will match better.

I'll never buy, own or wear a hat of a team I'm not a fan of. Just ain't for me.

Rather wear an off color one, not that I own any outside of the breast cancer NFL hats from a year or two ago.

I also don't care about matching, don't got anyone to try and impress.

This is me to a tee. I have a Braves hat, an Ole Miss hat, and that's it. I like a bunch of players from other teams, but I'd never wear a hat just to match a shirt or pair of shoes.

Don't know if it helps for me to re-state how it works for me.

Your interpretation: "I buy a hat just to match a shirt or pair of shoes."

My reality: "If I own a hat, it's because I have a shirt or pair of shoes to match it with."

Thankfully one of the Giants' colors is black, so doing white or black makes this really easy for me.

I'm sure if I keep searching through my computer I can continue to find more pics like these. I just think it looks better and not out of place.

On the flip-side, I know of people who began to like or dislike teams because of their colors. Therefore if they are a Mariners fan and then happen to own their hat, you might not even know that the only reason they were attracted to them in the first place was that blue & teal combo.

Oh I wasn't taking a shot at anybody. I just meant I'm not buying a Bengals hat just to match some orange shirt I own. I understand matching clothes up.

I just mean random teams for the sake of color matching.

Well just as I like to vary my clothes up, I also like to with my hats, and I like wearing hats. I'd be sick of wearing my Giants hat only day in and day out.

But yeah, if I own a dark green shirt, I'm not automatically going to the store and trying to find an Eagles hat... though to be honest, I likely wouldn't wear a hat with such a shirt.

(also to be honest, I likely wouldn't own such a shirt lol)

(by the way I added another pic beside the one you saw, and I'll edit that original one in)
