But then every so often I get a humanistic soul who goes off the beaten path and I feel like I'm reasoning with, well, a person. I acknowledge them for it every time that I do, try and find a way to give them any sort of high remarks in feedback.

I wish more could be like this, honestly. It makes it easy to talk with them, heck even laugh with them, whatever it is. I'm sure their day isn't the best and they probably know I'm calling for a reason that's not tickling my fancy either, so the fact that we can have a real conversation always leaves me way more than satisfied.

So when I get someone who opens their mouth with some of those first few procedural lines, I almost want to hang up and try again, lol.

It's worse-worse when I have an account under another family member's name, and I've made them aware that I'm different than that person, but they still refer to me as someone like "Mr. Calvin" (my deceased father) or "Cynthia" (my mother, which I don't get how they do that besides the fact they're looking at screen info and prompts).
I don't have the patience for that anymore.

Once I detect they aren't the decision maker, I ask them to turn me over to someone that can make decisions.

Last night I was dealing with an online guy. Unfortunately they didn't e-mail me a transcript and the messages didn't have timestamps anyway so I can't speak for how aggravating it was. I was seriously about to redo the process again, but it would have taken another half-hour to get reconnected with someone else.

He finally resolved my stuff, but it was not a good experience with that particular representative. He was also very "by the books" too, so much so that I thought I was talking to a [slow-responding] computer and not hitting the right keywords to get the proper replies back.

You know what really grinds my gears?

            Here’s a fun one:

I signed up for one of those meal delivery services in February. EveryPlate. Pretty good, great price. Did it for a few months, got tired of it and sometimes items would be missing or damaged (including meat packages — not cool). I cancelled about 3-4 weeks ago.

Well I get a call from them. Basically sounded like a survey, what did you like, blah blah. Eventually the guy is like okay I can give you % off your next few boxes, I was like thanks I’ll check it out but don’t want it right now. Never did I consent to reactivating my account.

I had a suspicion, so I took a minute to login to my account today (call came on Tuesday). Sure enough, it had been reactivated. And this week was skipped, but it would pick up next week with the discount.

            How shifty is that?

I hit up their customer service chat (that or phone is the only options), which had been helpful in the past with giving credits for missing or damaged ingredients. I let them know to never reactivate my account again by disguising it as a survey.

I spread the word about this service pretty hardcore, giving 5 people free trials and talking it up whenever I could. A few friends are still with them and really enjoy it. Now I’m like damn. I probably would’ve gone back and reactivated at some point, especially since the representative did say their packaging had been changed (they’re newer so things are always changing), but after this they can **** off. So sneaky. This wasn’t a “you didn’t read the fine print” situation like where you sign up and if you don’t cancel you get charged or something, they went in to my account and flipped it back on. That’s crazy and probably borderline illegal. I never consented to that.

We had a friend give us a free trial to Blue Apron and will have it delivered this weekend for next week.

I'm expecting the portions to be small and no leftovers.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

That’s the only other service I’ve tried. It was good, but correct, you don’t get leftovers. It’s very specifically portioned.

EveryPlate’s selling point is it’s $5/serving ... so their 2 person dinner plan is 3 meals = $30 + $8 shipping. I believe Blue Apron and others is 2 meals for like 40$ or something.

The quality of ingredients didn’t suffer at the lower price point. In fact, the chicken and pork chops were better then we can get at the markets around here. We learned some new techniques. But leaking raw meat juice on arrival was a hard pass. This happened 4 or so times. It got old quick.

Now this shady sales tactic has really turned me off. The whole call was weird, I should’ve just hung up. I had really liked the service and was disappointed in having to cancel, but it was a cut your losses situation. I was paying to throw away 1 out of 3 packs of meat a week.

We got into Hello Fresh for awhile and really enjoyed it for a couple months. We still have it active but usually just skip weeks and don't order too often because it got a little repetitive at one point.

We kept every recipe we ever got so we can actually recreate pretty much any meal we've ever had but every now and again it's nice to have it as an option.

Yea, we did have some issues with their deliveries. We never had a box with no ice but the delivery times became very sporadic at one point.

A delivery once got delivered at the completely wrong house. The owner of that house actually tracked us down and brought it to us which was awesome.

There were also a couple of times it was delivered after we went to bed and we didn't see it until the morning lol.
