I don't mind it for the Super Bowl, but football parties. I guess I get no enjoyment out of watching a game with people who can't name more than 2 players for the team they have a shirt on for. Luckily my wife is the same way. We know a lot of Packers fans in Dallas and she knows I want no interest in having a watch party when the two teams play.

Any person who does not read the full e-mail before responding or, even better, asking a question that is answered in the e-mail should throw themselves against their office wall. Just toss yourself up there, please. I cannot think of a more irritating and frustrating peeve recently. Communicating primarily by email with the "new regime" has been an exercise in patience and trying not to give myself an aneurysm by eye-rolling too hard and frequently.

I made the mistake of inviting people over for a Giants Packers playoff game a few years ago. 3 or 4 people that were just talking sitting at my bar the whole time had the audacity to ask if we could turn the volume of the game off and put music on. Never again.Comment

Going into a bathroom stall and seeing a half a roll of toilet paper all balled up in the toilet.
Also, what is with people who use so much toilet paper?
Also, is "toilet paper" and "toilet tissue" like people saying "pop" instead of "soda?"Comment

I hate that and walking in and seeing “remains” of someone’s previous business

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I've only heard of people calling it toilet tissue recently. When someone mentioned it, I thought they meant like a box of tissues specifically for the bathroom lol.
Reminds me of these alternate names for things, like how they also call snow blowers, snow throwers.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
School shooting threat hoaxes (full disclosure, real school shooting threats and acts also grind our gears of course).
My school had a shooting threat last Thursday, and yesterday somebody else made a threat to "cause harm to students on 9/11" at our school. Both were eventually deemed non-credible, but despite what law enforcement stated, over 1/3 of my students weren't at school today.
We now have a third threat for Friday the 13th, according to one of my students that I just spoke to.
This isn't funny. This isn't a joke. This also will continue, and they have zero tolerance about any of this. That student that I spoke to was talking about the situation to one of his classmates, and what was mistakenly overheard as him "asking where to get a weapon" resulted in him being detained while law enforcement searched his bag, car, house, phone, e-mails, and his family's bank statements. I'm glad we're treating it this seriously, but these kids gotta learn why everyone is sensitive and on-edge about this stuff.
This is very troubling what kind of power someone can have with a piece of paper and a pen. There is no reason that this wouldn't ever stop. I don't doubt we are going to hold a school-wide assembly about this at some point.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I just came downstairs after getting ready for work. Shower, shave, etc. Get downstairs and my wife starts bitching at me that I wasn't downstairs helping HER get the kids ready for school. Like really? Funny because I recall me being the one who cleaned up dinner last night AND washed all the dishes and didn't even get a thank you. ******* bitch.

I don't think I've ever felt the need to post in here before, but I think it's time. Or I post an old man tells at cloud rant in one of the game forums. Anyway...
I've had it up to here with people saying missing features would be easy to program, simple to add, or the last one I just saw, would take a few seconds to code. This is closely related to the many why don't they just fix the AI posts. Hmmm... maybe because it's rather difficult to write a bunch of equations that simulate human behavior in complex contextual situations with many, many variables!
I feel a little better.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I hate that predictive search results for movies, games, etc. can potentially show spoilers. I thought search engines would be better than that and smartly/selectively filter those kinds of things out, just like they do for some other words (curse words, sexual terms, etc.). I just saw IT: Chapter 2, and thankfully I already did because right when I started to type it out on YouTube (wanted to check out the trailer I never saw yet), front and center was a pretty big spoiler staring at me in the face.
Another one is when you're trying to look up something that may relate to a sports team somehow, and they just can't help but let you know how their team did on that day as well. Since I have to watch a lot of sports games on record/delay at times, this really hurts. I was trying to look up where the Patriots' old center was (because the new one can't snap from the gun worth a damn), and just getting that information I was updated on the Pats' halftime score right on Google's results page when I was only a minute into the second quarter.Last edited by Blzer; 09-14-2019, 01:05 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
well, in this day and age its really unacceptable that Madden or even NBA2k doesn't have ghosts chasing you or giant gorilla's throwing barrels at you. I mean, we had that in our games almost 40 years ago so you cant sit there and tell me thats too hard to code.
