I've went thru 3 outsources myself...in the same department. It's rough man, I'm sorry.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Not relating to outsourcing, but another work related gear grinder....

Having coworkers whose work negatively impacts yours.

I had something that needed to be done, easily could've been done by myself, but someone else volunteered to help. Except their definition of helping was basically just carelessly doing stuff. I even told them what had to be done, they still messed it up, and when I went to fix a major error on their end, they get mad at me for "doing extra work when (they) just did it."

I'm not bossy or a perfectionist, but at the very least, some things are so basic that you almost have to go out of your way to mess things up. This was one case where it happened. Not sure if that's how they actually work, if they were trying to sabotage things, or were simply just careless in this instance.

Edit-So a similar situation happened today, except they were asking me for help. No issues on my end, but I noticed they were messing things up again and being careless. This time I stayed quiet, but I just wonder how or why they think that's ok.

I have never even used a dishwasher in my life, don't even know how to. We didn't have one growing up. I usually wash dishes right after using them so food residue doesn't dry and get harder to clean.

Having to factory reset a 6-year old laptop.

That's a lot of stuff to just straight up lose.

Can't remove the HDD before doing that?

After 13 hours of trying every single fix I could find on Google, that option never really came up. So I just said screw it.

Hmm, interesting. What forced the factory reset, and did something actually stop you from doing that?

I bought a cable a long time ago after my laptop's motherboard fried which allowed me to basically treat my HDD as an external HDD. It has saved me so many times in the past fifteen years, really. So unless the hard drive itself failed, I recommend that you never wipe that data until you find means to extract it and back it up.

I guess you should have just asked us on here! Shoot, I feel bad that you already performed the factory reset it sounds like. Keep in mind... I wasn't trying to get you to prevent your laptop from needing a factory reset, I was just trying to salvage your data. I'm sure your Google searches weren't accounting for prioritizing that at all.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Nothing I could do about this I guess, but I set the Dodgers-Braves game to record because I wasn't home the last several hours. Unfortunately, the game time moved and so did DirecTV's program scheduling. This removed my single-game recording as well.

Now I'm home and don't have a game recording, and have to catch the rest live. I guess I'm glad I caught it now, but this kind of stuff is aggravating.

DirecTV also does this really annoying thing too when I record like Giants games for the season, and instead of just choosing the local broadcast sometimes it'll seek another channel it's "on" even if I don't actually receive it or it is blacked out on that channel. I don't find this out until I get home, either. There also isn't anything that anybody can do about this.

It’s really easy to change and rescheduled recordings from the app or online.

I didn't know the game time changed, and even if it did I didn't know it would cancel my recording.

I also was running a practice and my phone was away from me for several hours.

Period films where everyone looks like they just came out of JC Penney with their new clothes. Must have been really nice that everyone in all times (except the present) had monies to always have pristine clothing. Of course this wasn't the case and it is due many times to productions being cheap and not treating clothes to look, you know, "normal". Same thing with cars, everyone apparently went to the car wash after their jobs everyday.

That's a bit more understandable, many times cars used in films are rentals/borrowed and adding dirt/effects to these cars can be costly, time consuming and the owner/s might object to their antique cars getting a bit "messed up" just for effect. Still, I don't care, do better.

Can tell who put up real work for production when their "historical" cars looked like they actually have been in the real world.
