Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

My mom once ordered and received a package and then some time later received a letter apologizing and saying the product was never produced because of a manufacturing issue or something. If you've ever seen those things that are like a bed of pins that you can depress to make impressions, the product was actually a digital clock that worked like one of those so the pattern would change every minute to display the time. Also, we could never use it in our house because our dog was terrified of the noise it made when the time changed. That's why I always called in Mocha's (dogs name) demon clock because she was scared of it and it supposedly didn't even exist according to the letter we got from the manufacturer.

You've got it like some Belichick coached delivery team, scamming the system to win the super bowl of package delivery
If you got 50 deliveries in a day, it looks a lot better saying you finished those deliveries in 7 hours vs 8. Or if you're running behind, just say you deliveried them on the day you're supposed to so that it doesn't count as a late delivery.

There seriously can't be a dumber customer service support group than Verizon. I'm looking to switch off Verizon because it's overpriced, and did a chat asking if there are any other discounts for my 8gb plan that is like $90 for two lines. Person comes back offering me a discount on an unlimited plan for $120......................

Not sure about every delivery company, but I know some will just have a route and have to deliver whatever is in the back of their truck. Smaller ones like independent people doing Amazon packages I'd guess do multiple trips, but bigger ones would run differently.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Recently bought a new house and sold is one and anyone who's been through this process knows the number of gear grinders.

A few minor one's but whatever.

In this small borough we are moving to, we have to buy occupancy permits. I'm nearly 40 and have never heard of this. It's cheap so whatever.

Went through the ordinances for this borough and there is a small one that says you can have two dogs OR two cats. Not both. We have two dogs and two cats and aren't getting rid of any of them lol. I doubt this is enforced anymore though and am not worried about it.

Just a lot of stupid ticky tack things. Had to pay $400 for a dye test today at the current house that is required before I can sell. They were here for all of 15 minutes.

But here is the real gear grinder that has me pissed off.

I live in an HOA and I have to order and pay for a re-sale package. It's largely dumb and a money maker for both the HOA and the management company.

My HOA apparently charges $395 for this package which is very high for this unfortunately very common practice. Our relator told us the average price he see's is about $250 and the highest he's ever seen (until now) was $300.

Nothing about our HOA surprises me but here is what really pisses me off.

Every document that's included in this packet is available for me on our HOA portal, I could literally print it all off myself to have at closing with the exception of one document (the resale certificate).

SO I am paying $395 for one piece of paper....

What can they do if you sell without this certificate?

Closing wouldn't go through without it, it's just as much requirement as signing the deed over.

I don't mind the resale certificate, it's normal in any HOA. The cost and absurdity of what I have to do to get it is what's annoying.

My car insurance going up. Which would be less of a gear grinder if I hadn't seen the "at All-State we've lowered our rates" commercials a zillion times during football season.

And no, I didn't have any tickets or accidents.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

It seems the majority of my gear grinders deal with driving.

I may have posted about this before can't remember, I'm getting old.
My current job sometimes requires me to travel to job sites to do paint touch ups. This past month I traveled for Portland to Bangor a two hour dive , all highway , 2 lanes each direction.

I have a couple big issues with people:

1.There are signs posted every so often along the road that read "Keep Right Except To Pass" , but there is always this clown that is in the passing (left) lane just cruising alone oblivious to the building line of traffic that is now behind him or her. Yes This person may be going the speed limit , which in this case is 70 MPH, but there are many of us that travel at least 10 to 15 MPH over that limit. When you see us rapidly approaching you in your rear view mirror just kindly move the (explitive) out of the way so we can continue on.

                          2. YIELD: This word when it relates to the rules of the road has a certain meaning. Apparently NO ONE knows that meaning:

In road transport, a yield or give way sign indicates that merging drivers must prepare to stop if necessary to let a driver on another approach proceed. A driver who stops or slows down to let another vehicle through has yielded the right of way to that vehicle.

The drivers entering the highway must yield to the driver already on the highway. However none of them do. It seems people think just because they use their turn signal it's ok to just enter into on coming traffic that is moving at a much faster speed than they are.

Now I'm not an A-hole , when I see someone coming on to the highway I will move into the left lane and grant them safe entry, but there are times when traffic is heavy and this is not possible. So they need to yield. I'm not going to use my brakes going 70+ MPH with traffic behind me so someone going 50 MPH can enter in front of me. It's just not going to happen. This pisses me off big time , when they expect the driver already on the highway to slow down and let them in , F that. Take some responsibility you **** driver....Man I'm getting pissed just typing this out....Serenity now.....

I put it in park and call my wife: "WTF is wrong with this car?" Why she asks , "it shuts off every time I stop!!" Yeah it does that you can disable it with that button on the console.

This has to be one of the worst "features" in the history of automobiles. How many starters will you wear out from this constant stopping and restarting all the time? I'm not a fan. And yeah , like the OP said, you have to turn the "feature" off every time you use the car.

I have already spoken once to the engine shutting off but the presumptuousness of technology is out of control on the newest of some vehicles. We got a super deal on a brand new 2021 Subaru Outback (a couple bought it but didn't like the seats so traded it in. The touchscreen panel is bigger than our TV we had growing up, and it takes multiple taps just to take the heater from defrost to vents or whatever. No toggle switch for the seat warmers, again, several taps to get to the control and more taps to set it. Everything you have to do requires the driver to take their eyes off the road!

I know I am growing into a fine old grumpy man, but this is ridiculous. I love my gadgets but all of this is so unnecessary and dangerous.

So maybe the couple traded it in not because of the seats, but because of the control screen because if you're not just a little tech savvy, there is a mess of confusion and inconvenience coming you're way with this car!
