That's been my experience ordering as well. I've always had to fill out the tip and sign the receipt with the delivery guy.

Every place I have ordered from the past few years, you give the tip at time of ordering, which I am fine with as I live close enough that, if it takes forever, it is the stores fault, not the driver's. Hard to get lost in this town.

Just the convenience of having food brought to you is enough for me.

I wish we had a chinese place close to home that delivered. I would pay double for that some days.

Well that explains it. Your yards are small enough you can hire someone to do it for you. To hire someone to mow 2 acres would cost an arm and a leg when you have to mow 3-4 times a month where I'm from.

But delivery fees also grind my gears. Delivery has existed for decades. I've never worked in a takeout/delivery place, but I can't figure out what delivery could do that would cause a loss of revenue. You were already hiring delivery drivers. I doubt you paid them more (and the disclaimer even says the money doesn't go to them). I could understand if your delivery guy is a regular employee and having him run deliveries slows you down or forces you to hire others, but again, delivery has been common for ages.

Probably just an excuse to charge the consumer more and it was an easy explanation. If it was because of actual delivery costs to the driver, then they should have just put a mandatory X% gratuity. Never quite figured this one out.
Different places do delivery fees different way. The shop I worked at originally charged $1 but went to $2. As a driver I got half. We were told it was a way to protect the driver in case of a no-tip since gas prices got so high around that time.

People throwing their cigarette butts out the car window. I just want to follow them and punch them in the teeth. Smoke if you want, but don't throw it on the street. Put it in your ashtray(new cars don't even come with ashtrays anymore do they?) and dump that in your garbage can when you get home. Your car already smells like smoke, what's the hurry in getting the butt out of the car?

See, that is understandable. But when they advertise it as a "delivery fee" and then in fine print say "This fee does not go to the driver, etc..." it's just a mess. I mean, big deal, it is $2 here for Papa John's and $1 for Chinese, and I'm only getting Papa John's if I get a discount, so whatever at the end of the day.

That's when we got enough rain at least. If it was dry, you wouldn't do it that much. Having a riding lawnmower made it easy; not necessarily quick though.

Yeah 2$ for us and $1.10 goes to the driver at clock out per delivery.

I don't understand the fee either. I think someone told me once but I forget. Anyway I think it ends up screwing over the driver more. Fee AND a tip? A lot of people assume the fee is the tip. Putting it on small print on the box ain't gonna help for 99% of people.

Drivers aren't happy with the $1.10 anyway. I feel like they'd rather get stiffed then get a dollar or two.

Those ****ers are greedy. I tip well, my friends tips pretty average, and this one driver was giving him a hard time. Sorry buddy but I know for certain your job ain't that hard.

Pizza Hut's delivery fee is $3.

I think charging me a delivery fee and then expecting me to tip the driver is double dipping. I'm paying twice for the same service. I still do it because it's custom, but it's irritating.

I don't even order for delivery anymore, If I want some take out, which I rarely eat anymore anyways I'll call ahead when I'm getting off work, and pick it up on the way home, or pick some up while I'm out on travels.

                          - So what's been bugging me lately is when I'm at the restroom at work, and there's a dude in the stall next to me moaning loudly... like I can understand you being relieved to take a pee but do you have to moan excessively?

When GREAT dogs get a bad rep.

For example, Pits, Rottweilers, Bulldogs, and some other ones.

                            All these dogs are AMAZING.
if raised by the right owner.

They're just powerful dogs. Who need a strong owner.

                            It really disgusts me.

And that's the problem, they're also the breeds that attract the worst possible owners.
