I always give the door a little punch and hold my face so they think it hit me. They usually feel terrible. I guarantee they learn their lesson.

From my experiences women are notorious for this, I'll leave the door open for them if they are walking in behind me, or hold it on the way in at the entrance and let them go in first.. and they'll just walk right in.

Older people, and most dudes will almost always smile, say Thanks, and often return the favor. A lot of younger women, especially attractive ones will just waltz right on by without even looking at you like they are entitled to have the door held for them. And if they are at the door first often times they will let it fly shut in front of you....

Old people are BY FAR the least likely to acknowledge the individual holding the door open for them, at least that's what I've experienced in this particular area of the country.

I think it's due to a strong sense of entitlement that some of them develop in their old age.

They have had it their whole life. Our (and the younger) generation has a greater sense of entitlement than the old people even know is possible.

I think your area does skew it a bit, isn't Florida like the retirement Mecca of the US?

Actually that reminds me old people that act like they are better than you just because they are old really upsets me. Don't act like you are better than me just because you have been around longer.

Rude customers piss me off too. I work at a sub shop and this lady is on her phone and says can I have a small sub on everything bread, then walks away. 10 minutes later she comes back and says "where is my sub?". How the hell am I supposed to make you a sub when all you say is the type of roll you want?

I actually slow down sometimes to keep from getting stuck in that awkward position where I have to make someone choose to hold the door or let it go. I would rather them just go on and let me open it.

I am saying that I believe some individuals develop a sense of entitlement in their later years that is directly related to the individual's view of his/her own advanced age.
I wasn't making a broad statement regarding the differences in generational entitlement, but speaking specifically about my experiences when holding a door open for an individual.

Yep, it's quite awful even here in the panhandle.

A dumb*** struck out on my team tonight and threw his helmet, and I had to duck otherwise it'd get me in the face.

                                I mean, I'm competitive, but I don't throw a temper tantrum that's the equivalent of a 5 year old girl's.
