I have to touch on this because my neighbor is a stay at home mom of 3 and is so annoying. Me and my room mates all work at the same place (a prison, nonetheless) and anytime we talk about something that happened at work that was really crazy or stressful she will say something like "well, you should try being a mother of 3..."

I don't care what anyone says, taking care of kids is NOT the same thing as going to a job 40 hours a week. Can taking care of kids be a handful and be stressfull? Of course, but the fact that they are your own kids, you are at home in sweatpants or comfy clothes and not some uniform or suit, you can watch TV or do something to entertain yourself...automatically makes it better than going to a job and dealing with bosses/customers, whatever it may be.

I'd give my left ball to get to stay at home and watch a couple kids full time.

It's not like being a mother of 3 stops at 5pm each day. You may work 40 hours a week but you don't just stop being with your kids. It's a 24/7 job.

I think people are under estimating the amount of time and effort multiple kids require, especially when they are very young. It's nice being at home, but if you're an engaged parent then you aren't getting to enjoy much of that time at home.

I'm sure someone will come in and say it's their responsibility as a mother, father, etc. That doesn't diminish the fact that it's still difficult.

I can spend just a few hours with my niece and nephew and be wore out.

Lets take a look at what a military wife has to go through that normal wifes dont. We will use my wife as an example.

Shes the units ombudsman so she is in charge of all of the other military wives at my unit. This is a volunteer position.

We move every 3-4 years which means a new job and new friends.

Out of the 3 years Im stationed in Mississippi Ill be gone 1 1/2 of them. So about 6 months a year. Its all up to her to take care of the house, dogs, yard, kids (if I had any). If anything goes wrong she has to handle it. Not to count when I come home from a deployment the weirdness of adjusting to normal life only having to go though it again a few months later.

Shes away from her family and friends back home. Now we are lucky since its only a 9 hour dive. When we were in Alaska it was a 9 hr flight.

The only way she gets to talk to me when Im gone is through email or when Im at a port call.

She didnt sign up and get paid like I do. She just fell in love with me and had to chose between a normal life and being with me. Ive missed every christmas Ive been in the military so she gets to spend it alone. Ill be gone every anniversary while Im here.

She gets to deal with me going away randomly to a school or find out 3 days before a deployment that the length of my deployment has been doubled.

It would be a lot worse if we had kids also. In the year Ive been in Mississippi we have had more people get a divorce then stay married. Its a lot of **** to put up with.

Ellen DeGeneres kinda grinds my gears. I don't think she is as nice as a person as people think she is and some of the people who used to work for her behind the scenes say she is a living hell behind the scenes. It's also kinda annoying how she gives so much attention to those little British girls Sophie and Rosie for singing a FREAKING Nicki Minaj song. Now they get all this money, Ellen gives them these big expensive items every time they appear on her show and they even get guest apperances on TV shows and i'm sure they make a ton of money from that as well. They aren't doing anything to help society but it seems people who don't help society in any way at all get more money than a person that actually helps society in a big way will ever make. What has society come to? I might as well make a rap song about Ellen and send it to her via email and hope I get to appear on her show at least once every month and make a lot of money from it without even doing anything to help society or getting a job lol.

For a woman who's in it for the right reasons, I think It's a lot more difficult than it is for a girl who's looking for that "way out" that I mentioned earlier.

And I get that, it's just the ones who advertise how difficult it is and how brave they are for going through it all the time. Those are the gear grinders, haha.
