People that bite their nails in public, it just irks me when I'm on a bus for example and see at least two people doing that, I find it gross and don't understand why don't they wait to get home and use a nail clipper.

Because you are assuming they are doing it for grooming purposes and not out of habit, anxiety, etc.

Ok, you're right but it isn't like it can't be avoided.

It can't always. I've managed to stop chewing my nails a few times, and every time I end up doing it again at some point. I haven't tried some of the radical "treatments" out there though.

I was a real bad nail biter as a kid through college and a couple years.

Would stop. Then be back at it.

But every time I got better at it. And for about six or so years, I can call myself a successful quitter

It wasn't easy. It's disgusting but it's not easy to give up.
