Re: What is your biggest pet peeve?
When you are in a long line for food, like at a fast food place or something, and someone ahead of you gets up to order and acts like this is the first time they've even considered what they want to get, so they take forever. If you are in line for 10 minutes it would make sense to figure it out then.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Also, people at the gym who do their curls or whatever exercise right in front of the dumbbell rack, so no one else can grab any of the dumbbells that are near them. You are at the gym, lifting weights to get stronger, it shouldn't be too much to ask for you to walk a few feet with your 30 lb dumbbells and do your exercise there.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Smoking in general, I hate it. It's nasty, unattractive, and unhealthy.

Re: What is your biggest pet peeve?
I hate when you are out on the highway and you are sitting behind someone who is going 15 below the speed limit and traffic is backing up WAAAYYYY back behind them. To make it worse you get to a slower speed area and rather than stay on the same speed that they were just going on they slow down even further to make sure they are still way below the speed limit. I'm like "i know you can do that speed YOU WERE JUST DOING IT 5 SECONDS AGO!!!"
People who are like that are just as dangerous as people who speed imo.
I'm going to drive the speed I feel comfortable going safely under the conditions I'm under. All the tailgating in the world isn't gonna change that.
I didn't know those roads and was mindful of my reaction time needed to react to deer/possums on the road...what was moronic was when people could easily pass me they didn't. They seemed to prefer stacking up behind me in the slow lane or despite my slow speed wouldn't pass when allowed. That makes it your problem...not mine.Comment

As a guy who tends to this...in fact just spent a 6 hour trip through the back roads of NC in the middle of the night doing it...I don't care how much it upsets people.

Re: What is your biggest pet peeve?
I agree but there are exceptions. For example, when a person starts smoking at a young age because they were immature/naive, and tries to but fails quitting multiple times. I can understand cases like that.
People who do it in social situations or just because they like it piss me off. There is maybe one benefit, that being the "buzz" feeling it gives you. And there are too many negatives that outweigh that to consider smoking worth it whatsoever.Bears | Bulls | Cubs | Illinois | #Team3Some

Re: What is your biggest pet peeve?
If you have to drive 15 mph below the speed limit in good weather conditions because of your lack of reaction times you shouldn't be driving imo. I agree that if people don't overtake even if they have the chance to do so safely they are just as annoying but so is holding up every other car on the road.
The people that annoy me are the people who do a constant 15 mph over the speed limit. Those and the people whose speed fluctuates in a 20 mph range are the worst.Bears | Bulls | Cubs | Illinois | #Team3Some

Re: What is your biggest pet peeve?
I don't see anything wrong with driving or driving below the speed limit, just do it in the right lane. If there's only one lane, chances are at some point you'll have an opportunity to pass.

And I don't "lack" reaction time...I account for the extra time needed for the unexpected. At 3 AM on a windy road I've never been on in the deep country...Trying to hug the maximium speed limit would just be stupid of me or any other driver.Last edited by deaduck; 08-16-2010, 11:37 AM.Comment

Good thing your opinion doesn't matter that much to me when it comes to me and the occupants of my cars safety.

I really don't care what other people on the road think, I'll drive at the speed I feel most comfortable at(usually 5 under the limit although people around here like to all drive 10 above the limit)
If you tailgate me, I'll drive slower just to piss you off. Not my fault if you want to ride my bumper, either back off or deal with it.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Re: What is your biggest pet peeve?
Well, if the speed limit is 40 and they're going 35, they really aren't doing anything wrong as long as they're not in the passing (fast) lane and they aren't violating the minimum speed limit, if there is one. However, you usually only see minimum speeds posted on major interstate highways. I've never seen one in New Jersey.
And since most people don't use their cruise control for some reason, people will be driving 60 MPH one minute then 75 MPH another minute, which drives me crazy.Comment
