I think they are more referring to the fact that if she died of an over dose or something that it isn't really a tragedy, she would have had it coming. If she was in an accident or murdered then you could call it a tragedy.

Actually, a person with incredible talent who had one vice that led to his/her demise would be the most apt example of a tragedy.

Remember that the word tragedy comes from the Greek style of play.

A tragedy (aside from the literary Greek definition), in my book (generally) is something that wasnt induced by the person who ends up dead.

A little girl drowning when she's 3 years old is a tragedy. An 15 year old kid dying from cancer is a tragedy. A 25 year old graduate student being in the unfortunate spot while an elderly woman loses control of her car and plows through and getting killed because of it is a tragedy. Nick Adenhart's passing because of some selfish drunk driving prick is a tragedy.

Someone who kills themselves with drugs, or blows their brains out, or drives drunk straight into a tree while going 130mph, or anything similar to that is NOT a tragedy.

But that's probably not a discussion that should be held, especially in a thread such as this.

When it had anything involving space (disregarding aliens) I was absolutely fascinated.

                    It was good, back then.

Agreed.....I loved "The Universe", even though in some of those episodes it felt like they were speaking Greek.

I'm still perplexed by Black Holes though.....they don't make any sense at all, and that grinds my gears.

                        People who don't take showers.

What sucks is being in a bathroom doing your business, you finish, go to the sink to wash your hands only to have your nose greeted by a huge whiff of some nasty guy's BO and realizing it's the guy standing next to you after you figure it out 2 seconds later.

Walking through the cafeteria at school (I am in college) and smelling body odor in the same two sections almost every time you walk by.

People who can't park, and do some of this crap below...

Park in the stall crooked, forcing me to have to park elsewhere.

People who park on the line.

People who double park, parking right over the line taking up spaces in two stalls.

I guess I time my history channel watching just right. I usually see Modern Marvels or How It's Made. Not sure if I ever watched a show about aliens.
