Also, in addition to the drug test, should you fail, a five year no-aid should fall upon your shoulders. I've got nothing against drug use, but if you need aid to buy food, you should not be spending extra cash on weed.

Yeah, I have no issue with people needing help, I have no issue with grabbing like one or two candy bars with their groceries, but I really want to create a two-pronged approach to fixing food stamps, first part is make it more restrictive like WIC, with credit card server technology peaking right now it would not be hard to track purchases, and secondly, I'm in favor of government administered monthly drug tests for everyone receiving monthly aid. These would obviously increase government spending, but in the long run, it'll clean up where some tax money is going.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I don't think that would work. People on disability collect because they're unable to work, so their income is to supplement wages they'd gain if they were able. Nobody tells people who work what they can/can't buy, and disability is only a fraction of actual work wages. If a person wants to blow it on drugs at the risk of not being able to make rent, that's their problem.
Plus I mean someone could just use their debit card to buy regular necessities (toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, etc) and get cash back, then use the cash for drugs/alcohol. It's kinda like the food card loophole of getting lots of beverages with bottle deposits, then returning the cans/bottles and using the refund on beer (not that I would know anything about that)

There is a difference between disability being paid out by a corporation and government(tax payer) supplied food stamps.Comment

In Wisconsin you cannot get cash back. They already regulate what they can get. And if someone on disability wants to do drugs, they can earn money themselves. If you're fit to do drugs you're fit to do work sonSupport Local Sports

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
How about workfare instead of welfare? If you want government assistance, work for it. I understand that there are people that are handicapped and that is a different story, but if you are able to work, you better work for your benefits. Just my opinion...“If you’re true to yourself, you’re going to be true to everyone else.”Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
There are still work arounds though, a food card recipient can pay their narcotic supplier in groceries in exchange for "goods". I don't really want to derail this thread though
Just saying I don't think they could regulate a disability/food card recipient's personal spending.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

I'm all for sticking it to the West Coasters, when we want to watch "Prime Time" games out there we have to stay up crazy late to finish watching their games. Usually until like 1, 2 in the morning.
If they have to get up at 7, 8 AM to watch an East coast scheduled game.. I'm all for it.Minnesota Vikings

No thats why I'm paying with my debit card.

People who put new vehicles through automatic car washes.
I drive an '06 and I still refuse to hit it with a pressure washer or an auto wash. I know pressure washers won't hurt it if you don't get too close, but I just feel better about my paint job washing it with a reg. garden hose.

People who say I have no life, because I play a few video games. My response, "Get over yourself". People waste just as much time watching countless hours of TV or doing something else as I do playing my PS3 for a few hours a week.
I worked around 50hrs this week, went out to a few bars Friday and I just happen to be off today. God forbid I play a few hours of The Show or Battlefield.Last edited by AUChase; 04-22-2012, 02:09 PM.Comment
