I guess, but you can get HDTVs for 100 even.

I feel for people a bit, but at some point you should be able to upgrade, shouldn't you? If you care enough to complain you can probably care enough to upgrade.

I didn't realize you can get one for so cheap....Might have to look into that. I have a cheap knock off brand so maybe getting a brand spanking BRAND NAME TV would be better off especially since I like to record stuff onto disc.

I've got a regular tube TV that broadcasts the networks fine. I just put them in letterbox and it looks great still. I only watch maybe an hour a day on it if that so no reason to upgrade it.

Not trying to be an elitist or anything, but gaming-wise you guys are missing out on a lot by not going HD.

They're not super huge, but better than SD.

If I were you I'd check out Black Friday deals. I got a 32" LCD super cheap at Walmart, it was under 150 if I remember right.

You should be able to find something decent. I get Vizio ones for my main tv and those are a little more, but cheaper than Sony and others. I've had great experiences with them. All just depends on what you want.

HDTV's are getting cheaper and cheaper though, it's worth investigating.

I'd rather have like a 20 inch HD TV than a 50 inch SD.

I've become an HD snob. I hate hate hate that all I get in my dorm is standard def basic cable. I end up watching sports on my laptop if available just so I can see it in HD.

Yeah, there has to be a 20" HDTV that's affordable...

I shouldn't be forced into spending a penny just to see what should be displayed.

I've had HD before, and it's nice, but I can watch either and it doesn't bother me.

The girl and I were talking about getting a nice TV as a Christmas present to each other. Still, the principle of the thing grinds my gears.

You can get a 60" plasma for $800 these days. Albeit the technology is being phased out, but I figure LCD prices will follow.

Anyways... this reminded me of a gear grinder I had Thursday.

Long story short, people who invite you over to watch a game and don't have an HD feed going into their HDTV.

That's what I love about DirecTV. I don't have to go switch channels to get an HD feed. If it is in HD, the channel is in HD. If it doesn't have HD, it's not. With Time Warner, I always had to go to a different channel, and sometimes the channels didn't match up. At least with Fios, they were exactly 500 apart and gave you a button to switch to HD. But still, automatically give me HD if my TV is HD.

I think HD is a bit overrated, It's nice, but it's not this OMG thing that alot of people make it out to be, it's mezmorizing at first, but then it just becomes ordinary.

And then you go put it back on SD and realize why you watch HD. DirecTV and Fios SD channels are watchable at least. When I was stuck with TWC, SD looked gross on an HDTV.

Well yea, I mean don't get me wrong if I can have it, I want hd, there is a noticeable difference right off the bat that makes you feel all warm inside. But it's not as world altering as people make it out to be in my opinion. Besides TWC sucks *** anyway, sadly that's what I have now.

I can't go back to SD. I can't even watch DVDs. Has to be Blu Rays. Our boat had 8 mm tapes and that was brutal. Thankfully the Navy only sends us DVDs now. Maybe one day they can upgrade to blu ray
