Those spots are all over the suburbs of Birmingham. Best Buy, Walmart, Target, the malls, etc.

We also have a few stores with hybrids only parking...

Out here, depending on where you're at, some areas have Parking Patrol that drives around. They won't really press you out if you're at exactly 2 hours, but if your car has been there for 4-5 hours or so, then they'll write you a ticket.

I think the cops write on your hubcaps(specific spot) and come back in 2hrs and if the car is there(with the mark at the same location as before) they give them a ticket. I saw them do that to a car before.

The problem though...what if you park for like 1hr, then leave, then park in that spot again 50 mins later and the cop comes back and gives you a ticket(thinking the car was there for the whole time lol)

Other times, I see the exact opposite happen. Cars park on my street all night(despite a sign saying no parking between certain times) and they never get tickets.

Speaking of tickets, I know someone who got a ticket for parking in a spot(they weren't supposed to park in) for like 10 seconds. They just pulled aside on a main street(it was a place you could park, but if you park part of your car was past a certain point, you get a ticket) and almost immediately, a police officer came and gave them a ticket. Someone else I know said they had a similar thing happen with the exact same officer. They reported them, but nothing happened.

Some police are just horrible, one time me and my friend were just going to work on a school project at lunch, and we stopped by a mini park down the street for abit and out of nowhere, a police officer comes driving right into the park(not stopping and walking out, they literally drove their car over the sidewalk and through the grass) and then starts asking us questions and taking our names.....I never knew it was illegal to stop at a public park for a minute.

To go with the whole parking thing the fact that it's illegal in some cities to park facing the opposite of the direction traffic flows on a two way street.

Why? To me that is often asking for an accident. Let's say you parallel park on the wrong side. Your view is obstructed by a car parked in front of you. If you are with the flow of traffic, it is as easy as looking in your mirror or over your shoulder. But now you can't see well enough if anybody is coming. Head on collision in 3... 2... I mean, if you are talking on some neighborhood street, ok, but in a city, you might then have to cross 2 or more lanes of traffic to get to your side. The normal way, you merge in the lane next to you. It's for safety more than anything. Not to mention, you'd be parking while driving the wrong way. Pretty sure the whole illegally driving on the wrong side of the road makes it difficult to begin with.

That makes sense. The time I encountered it was my old house on a street that didn't even have lines.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Ok, then I agree. On neighborhood streets, especially ones that only allow parking on one side, then I think it is dumb when they write tickets for it. Heavy traffic is no longer a problem and you usually aren't parked bumper to bumper because of driveways breaking up groups of cars. At the same time, pulling into a driveway and turning around isn't usually a problem. But usually the law is applied in general so nothing stops them from writing tickets for it.

I just remember when I was in Ohio and going over to a friend of mine's was such a pain because she lived on a street like that. Parking on only one side, barely wide enough for traffic, usually crowded, and you had to park in the direction of traffic. But it was a residential street, so you could usually push your luck and wouldn't have to worry about a ticket, especially in winter.

This is a weird one, but seeing radio announcers for the first time (or people who you only know behind a microphone).

You have an image of them all your life, then one look and BOOM! Image tainted, game over. It's already happened to me twice this morning with two Bay Area radio guys, and it just screws everything up haha. I can't listen to them the same with this "new look" I have of them.

I have a feeling that's why most people like books better than their film adaptations: some director coming in and creating an image different from what you had in your mind as you read it destroys the appeal of what you read. They obviously change things for the sake of the film as well, but the first thing probably matters more.

I was walking out of Sam's Club with one of their rotisserie chickens for dinner tonight. I also bought a hot dog for lunch.. ($1.50, can't beat that..)

It's pouring outside, so with my limited use of hands, I stuff the hot dog in the bag that held my chicken.

As I got to the car, I put my drink on the roof, grabbed the handle to open the door.. and PLOP! down goes the hot dog.

I threw the chicken inside, went to grab the "hot dog" only to find an empty wrapper. I looked under my car, and there she was.. in a puddle of water.

                          Damn you rain!
