    Re: Ghost stories etc...

When I was a freshman in high shool, my friend got a book from our local library. I can't for the life of me remember the name. It was some book about witches. In this book were a bunch of things about witches, etc. but also a kind of 'How To' section. It had all of these ways to cast spells, curses, draw circles, pentagrams, stuff like that.

One night around Halloween time I have a bunch of people over. We had a band that played in my garage and we'd have 20 people there hanging out at various times. Well that night about 7-8 of us were talking about this guys book. He had said that for fun we should do one of these rituals.

He had this candle that he made, following the directions from the book. And he said we had to draw a circle (pentagram)on the ground. So we drew the circle, copying it from the book with a piece of common charcoal that you use for your grill.

We sat in the circle and joined hands, with the candle burning in the middle. My friend read word for word from the book. I honestly don't remember what he read, except he came to some line of like "Evil master, show us that you are with us now", or something like that...and the friggin candle in the middle of the pentagram shot a pillar of fire up about 5 feet!!!

I kid you not we jumped out of that circle and ran. I turned on the lights and said, THAT'S IT! WE'RE DONE!...

..man we immediately got a hose out and wiped that circle away and prettly much never talked about it again.

          Re: Ghost stories etc...

Last story...as I really only know 2 of them. The one that happened to me( which I already described ) and one that happened to my Buddy Mike, also form South Bend. This is not first hand experience, this is a story straight from Mike and his family. Please keep in mind that Mike's Mom and Dad are great people and very sensible ( mike is an Engineer for the city of Indianapolis now )

Mike's Mom and Dad bought this great little house in South Bend before Mike was born. Standard 3 bed, 1 bath for that time frame. It was an older home, but was in very good shape..or so I assume it was, because I was not around when they bought it, but It was in great shape when I first met Mike as a boy.

Mike's room was the attic up stairs...not a typical attic, as his parents had laid proper flooring and drywall, insulation...etc etc. I never really felt comfortable up there, bu what kid loves staying in an attic.

One day while i was over, Mike told me this little story........

When Mike was first born, the attic room was also his baby room. It made sense as the stairs that led down from the attic ended up right at his parents bedroom door. He said that when his parents bought the home, the were able to get a really good deal on the home and jumped at the chance....a deal that was almost too good to be true.

Once Mike was born, his parents would hear noises upstairs, like someone walking, or heavy thuds...but of course no one was ever there in mike's room with him..as he was just a baby. his parents go upstairs look around and see nothing.

This went on for four or five months..according to the story..until one night...Mike's Mom heard knocking coming from the upstairs...like she said...like someone knocking on the wall. She and her Husband Mike Sr. went upstairs and Mike was covered in blood, there was blood all over the bed, on mike's clothing and on Mike himself. They rushed Mike to the hospital, and found not on shred of evidence of him cutting himself, hurting himself, or anything that would have caused this.

Mike's Mom and Dad were actually questioned by the hospital and the police in regards to what happened, like they were messing around or just really bad parents. Needless to say, they did not put Mike back into that room, they moved his stuff down into their room. The odd thing was that they kept hearing the noises and had no answers.

Mike's Dad Finally went down to records division of the city and found that the guy who owned the house before them, had hung himself in the attic that was presently Mike's room. After a couple more months of noises, banging and pounding, Mike's Dad finally brought a priest into the house to bless the house and the room itself. They never had another problem after that.

Kids like to tell stories, hell even adults do also, but when Mike's Mom, Dad and Sister all backed that story up, I never ever wanted to go back in that room again We all have had people tell us ghost story's and some people we believe , and some we know are full of crap. I only lend credence to this story because of the type of people that Mike and his family were.

I guess mine isn't very good, but I will share it anyway.

When I was younger I woke up in the middle of the night because I heard a noise like something was rummaging around in my room. I tured around to see a glowing ball of light just hovering over my dresser knocking my action figures down. Me being about 6 years old took off to go get my dad. When I did, right before I reached the door, something started grabbing me and yanking me back in the room, it happened about three times before I finally broke free and got my dad. He convinced me that it was a bad dream but I woke up with bruised elbows and rug burns on my knees.

Another one from my step brother and step dad when they lived in Germany. My step dad wakes up to hear his 5 year old son crying. He goes in and checks on him and sees marks around his neck and he keeps trying to tell my step dad about the dark man with the hood that came out of the closet and choked him. He said he left out the window. My step-dad had to calm him down and take him to sleep with him. Before that however he said he looked out the window and on the roof there were fresh footprints leading off the top of the roof then they just stopped. The only think was the roof was at an eighty degree angle and covered in snow, there was no way anyone would have been able to go up it, snow or not. This story obviously bothers them to talk about and everytime I hear it, it scares the crap out of me. The house they lived in was from the 1600s so it was acient.

^^^Why do you say that your's aren't very good. Both of those story's suck in a good way. Whats amazing is that the people who re-call these images, thoughts, story's are either telling the truth, lying out their arses, or just really confused. It really makes you think about this stuff., since almost everyone has as least one thought, image or story.

I was talking about mine. I just think it sucks because people have these shadow figures and creepy ghosts in their stories. All mine is about is a small ball of light. That sunuvabeech whipped my ***!

But yeah, it took me forever to get my stepdad to tell me that story, it is true as far as I can tell. It really shakes him up.

I have never had any ghost or "supernatural" encounters. I kind of feel left out.

The stories I have read in this thread are really good. Keep them coming.

                      Re: Ghost stories etc...

                      Good stories.

I don't have a ghost story, but do have a bat one. I live in an old home with chimneys and the works and woke up one night to the sounds of something brushing around in the air. It was pitch dark and I could only hear the sound until I went to my little ones room and seen a shadow on the wall when it flew around. I then seen it and about freaked as I carried my little one and wife downstairs to antoher room and shut them in. I went back with a tennis racket to kill it but could not find it anywhere as I knew it was in the room as I shut the door when we ran out. Needless to say I searched and searched and spent the whole day looking for it until I finally found it under a TV in a corner of the stand. I had beat the stand and everything trying to make it come out during the day and it never moved.

I still have no sure clue where it came from, but have caulked, boarded up the chimneys and everything to stop them as this has been the 7th bat I have seen in the house in 4 years, but the one at night was the scariest waking up to. We still wake up to the least little sound at night and have a racket in each room ready for use.

It's actually been a quiet year for ghosts for us, there hasn't been one in the house in a long time.

A few years ago when my wife (then GF) lived in an apartment we had a really nasty ghost. It would throw stuff around the house and would try to possess my wife, this thing meant serious buisness. Fortunately there is an upside to having black cats.

I wouldn't forget this either, don't blame you.

Here's one of my stories that actually happened to my brother and in a way was a part of it. About 8 years ago, my wife (girlfriend at time), my 2 brothers, and 2 of our friends decided that were going to be brave and take a walk through Bachelor's Grove Cemetery.

Depending on who you speak to or which books you read, Bachelor's Grove wins scariest place in Chicago and even some have ranked it as scaries place in the world.

After we chickened out a few times to go there, at night and during the day, we decide to give it a shot during the day. We start walking along the pathway to get into BG (which by the way now has been blocked off to keep people from going in, even though you can find other ways in). As were walking through the path to the cemetery, I had this weird feeling about the place like something was watching us. Even weirder was that there was sunlight out, but as we walked through the path, it was as if the trees wouldn't let any of the sunlight creep through the path.

We make it through the path and into the cemetery where many of the headstones have been either destroyed by vandals, removed by family members, or apparently missing. So my stupid brother, goes and takes a piss on one of the headstones...............which I still shake my head to this day that he did that. After some looking around, we leave the cemetery and Bachelor's Grove. We could have continued walking beyond the cemetery but we were weirded out.

So for the next week afterwards, out of nowhere my brother would get up at 4am in the morning every night............and when he would open his eyes, guess what would be standing at the end of his bed.....an apparation. This continued for a good week, and then it stopped. My brother was so freaked out, but it goes to show that what he did wasn't right and he was being punished for it. This story isn't as good as everyone else's but Bachelor's Grove is creepy as hell. Some things that others have seen:

-Glowing lights coming out of the forest and not flashlights.
-There is a floating house that some people see over the pond.
-People have seen and taken pictures of plenty of ghosts.
-Midlothian Turnpike which is the road next to it is said to be haunted with ghost cars crashing into people, people thinking they got into a car accident but they didn't.
-I heard a story once that a pizza delivery guy went into the forest and was never heard from again. Rumor has it that he was it that someone burned his body with acid and only thing left were some of his bones. (I don't know if I believe this one).
-Mobsters used to dump bodies into the small pond, this has been said to be some of the cause for the ghosts.

Crazy thing about this is that I live 5 minutes away from Bachelor's Grove and I drive on Midlothian Turnpike everyday.

Our cat used to go upstairs where it stayed and fight it with it all the time, the noises would be crazy. It did actually manage to possess one of our cats, that was the last straw for Jericho. He went upstairs and there was was a ton of noise and then the ghost was just gone. He has been a good cat over the years, lord only knows how many ghosts he has expelled from our homes over the years.
