How often do your parents call you and vice versa?

A few friends and I got on this topic the other day. The question was for those that don't live at home, do you usually call your parents more than they call you and how often do you talk to them?

I was wondering what people's thoughts were here on OS.

I call my Mom every morning when I get to work. Basically just checking in, we usually talk less than a minute. Since my Dad passed away, I've done that.

My wife talks to her Mom 3-4 times a week. Her Mom calls her 2-3 of those times.

I usually call my parents every other day, but sometimes it could be every few days. My wife talks to her parents on a daily basis.

It's funny, when my friends and I were talking, we all came to an agreement that we were calling our parents more than they call us now that were older. LOL! I guess when we were younger it was the other way around. Something changes in parents I think, but not too sure.

Not as much as I should. My parent's don't call me very often unless they need something. I think they're afraid that they're infringing on my personal space when they call.

My sister talks to my parent's everyday. My fiance calls her parent's everyday when she stays at my house. Me? I call them almost every Sunday or when I want to talk to them about something. I should probably call more often though...

Biggest thing I miss. When my Dad was alive, any sports thing happened, I'd either call him or he'd call me. Any big news. I have so many fond memories of that. Like Randy Johnson's perfect game, I was watching something else, he called in the 8th, and basically whispered it to me that I should turn on TBS.

For about 6-10 months after his passing, any big story broke, I reached for the phone to call him. It was a rough thing to break.

As you guys have already alluded to....call your parents as often as possible and see them more than you already do, while you can.
I lost my mom when I was just 20 years old(she was only 50 ) ...that was 22 years ago and my pop three years ago.
I had my pop living with me, so I saw him everyday and I'm glad that I did.
I miss them both, so get in all the good talks while you can.

That tough man, sorry to hear that extreme. I just went through the same thing but it was with my sister. She OD'ed june of 2007 and was with out Oxygen for 10+ min they suspect and now she has huge amount of brain damage and is in a coma going on a year here in couple of months. She is in a home cause it is so bad they have to keep doctors on hand. The front part of the brain was damaged and is some part that controls body temp so she runs fevers of 108 or above so they have to keep doctors on hand all the time. My mom goes see her all the time but since she is in a coma it is mainly just to check to make sure the people are doing everything. I personally have given up and think it is best if she passes. I would never want to be in the condition and if I was I wish they would let me go.

It is tough man and I feel you on that.

I try to talk to my parents daily and try to go see them at least a couple of times per week. They just live right up the road (which is both a blessing and a curse at times).

When my Mom was alive, I talk to her almost everyday. It's been almost 5 years now and I still think to call her whenever something big happens in my life.

My Old Man... maybe once a month... sometimes more, sometimes less often. We go through hot and cold phases. We just don't have a ton in common. I love him. Just not much to talk about. We do go on a yearly golf outing (it was a couple weeks ago this year) where we do a lot of bonding though. The calls usually are more frequent leading up to and right after that.

Wow. I thought my once a week call was a lot; now I feel guilty.

Anyway, my parents called me once a week and we've been doing that for years.

My wife's parents, particularly her dad, call about just about every day to talk to her. She's an only child, so I can see that.

I still live at home with my parents and my younger sister. No real reason to make phone calls when I see them everyday. Sometimes I call them at work and ask them to bring home dinner.

My older brother and older sister live on their own with their families. My brother calls usually every Sunday, and my sister calls when she wants something. My older sister is a bitch, I'm glad she doesn't call that often. She treats my dad like hired help. My Brother can only call so often due to him being in Germany; out in the field(Army people will understand) most of the time, training Apache Helicopter pilots to go to Iraq/Afghanistan. He tries to call once a week to check in and see how everything is going.

Once I move out and am living on my own, I'll probably call a couple times a week. It'd be weird not to talk to my parents for long periods of time.

my mom calls me or vice versa about every other day....even if we talk for about 20 seconds
my pops died in 2000...and she still has trouble being "single" now....so I always want to call and check in see how shes holding up

I talk to my Dad once/twice a week...he is retired, I talk to my Mom probably twice a month...she is harder to get a hold of since she does a lot of consulting. If they didn't live In South Bend or I didn't live in St Louis we would talk a lot more in person though.

I talk to my parents a few times a week to let them know how I'm doing in school and to see how they and my brother and sister are doing.

My dad though...I call him for the most random things.

One day me and a few friends got into an argument on whether or not a fact has to be true. The argument lasted for about an hour before I called my dad, put him on speakerphone and asked him what he thought.

Me rents are pretty decent.
