I've grown tired of "it is what it is". Chuck Swirsky uses that phrase just about every chance he can get on his radio show. If someone is complaining about a player making huge money and underperforming chuck would invariably say "it is what it is"

It drives me insaine. It's an attempt to sound smarter. More Intellectual. Instead it sounds like people trying to sound smarter. Instead people sound like a frikkin tool.

One of the VPs from Sony was stating, "At the end of the day...." I perfer to play my video games at any point of the day. More so, at the end of the day I'm not thinking aobut, "wow, this new customizable XMB is amazing!"

A VP from Gamestop saying the same thing. These are "Suits" that are saying
this crap. They get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to sound like a tool. Amazing.

I'd rather listen to G.W. Bush ramble and make up new words like he does in almost every interview and speech he gives.
I agree because you know, at the end of the day, if they want to sound intelligent they need to read rather than using phrases that everone else use but oh well, it is what it is. And that's all I have to say about that.

Has anybody heard Dennis Dixon interviewed lately? When he was on Rome's show a few weeks ago, he threw out "evidently" like 18 times. We were cracking up! Then after the ASU game, he was interviewed by ESPN and he slipped it in 3 more times. It's like someone taught him the word in a media relations session or something!

The phrase has been around for awhile. Some "credit" John Fox for popularizing it during the Panthers' Super Bowl run a few years back.

The most egregious sports example is Todd Bertuzzi, who just kept answering "It is what it is" to every question asked of him when he made his first trip back to Colorado in 2005 following the Steve Moore incident.

Re: "At the End of the Day..." "It is what it is."

Now they are adding, "Nothing More, Nothing less"

So you have, "At the end of the day, it is what it is, nothing more, nothing less"...Now I guess that's O.K. if you knew what it was already, then it would just be redundant, because you already new what it was. But if you had no idea what it was or what just happened and you turn to friend and say...

"What the hell was that ________(fill in the blank)!?"

                    and they say...

"It is what it is, nothing more, nothing less..."

That person needs to be shot, basically I think they use that phrase when they have no idea what it is or what just happened. So its just a waste of breathe and words.

Well alot of teams make players take those media relations classes so maybe someone did tell him to say that.

                        also...basically.

-How did you guys prepare for the game?

-Well, basically, we got ready for this game like every other game.
(We just got ready for this game like every other game)

-What did the coach say during halftime.

-He basically told us that we're playing soft and we need to step up our game
(He told us that we're playing soft and we need to step up our game).

                        Describe how the accident happened?
Well basically, I was stopped at the stop light and he basically just ran into me.
(I was stopped at the stop light and he just ran into me).

Basically, most of the time the word basically is just a filler.

Oh I have no doubt in my mind, it was just hilarious. Watch out for some "EVIDENTLY" signs during the next home game (Dec. 1st vs. OSU). My whole dorm was cracking up at it.

If you hate the saying "It is what it is", you'd hate to hear a Bill Cowher press conference. He used that phrase at least 2-3 times every press conference. In fact, here's a small article about it:

I've heard it like 18 times. The best part is that he doesn't even use it correctly. I remember one gem from him:

"Evidently I'm just gonna play as hard as I can", or something along those lines. You think someone would have stopped him by now.

Thanks guys for agreeing with me on these lines being incredibly annoying. I'm trying the best I can to ingore it, but EVERYONE is using them.

It's amazing to see how pop culture and the media has such a huge influence on things. It's amazing to see how sports and even wrestling catch phrases have caught on. I can't wait to see what the next "hot" phrases are to use next year. I hope they are less annoying.
