    lol

I just didn't want it to sound like I didn't get knocked unconscious or like I was drinking before. This is the term the paramedics kept saying, so in case there are some very small discrepancies between each term, I wanted to remain consistent.

I just took a shower for the first time since yesterday. Still felt a bit woozy overall, but most of all, I was almost just scared to take one. Before I went in, though, one of my floormates was telling me how he went into the bathroom after my "collapse" (lol), and he said that all of the windows in the bathroom were closed. If he were to guess, he said that part of it might have had to do with just the steam in the small confined space I was in... that it started from the ceiling, and progressively went lower' and when I lay down, I was below that rush of steamy air and was able to breathe again.

Of course, it could have been more than that as well, but he guesses that attributed to it. I'm not sure if that makes enough sense, though. In one way it does, because I was surprised he said the windows were closed. First of all, they're always open... and whenever they are closed and I'm going to take a shower, I make sure to open at least the one near the sinks. I guess I forgot, since I was in a rush to go to the market afterwards in time to catch House (which I missed by the way lol).

Re: So, I fainted last night...

I' ve passed out twice. When I was 5, I passed out at daycare after playing and then washing up for lunch. I remember it somewhat and I spent about a week in the hospital for them to run test. They didn't find anything wrong.

Then I passed out when I was 10 at school, went to the office because I wasn't feeling great. I remember telling them to call my mom and then them telling me to have a seat outside. I tried to sit down, but didn't make it. I ended up passing out and busting my chin open. I hit right on my chin without bracing. I ended up about 5 feet or so from the chair. I remember them talking to me and asking me questions before I fully came to.

Its a weird feeling and I can remember everything before and after, but not actually falling, which I guess is a good thing.

I went there, and it said each new episode comes on the site eight days after first aired.

Maybe it was just in my head; I'll check again.

I passed out in the hall one day last semester when I had the flu. I remember walking down the hall and then I woke up and was laying at the bottom of the stairs(it was only 4 steps).

Re: So, I fainted last night...

So I went to the doctor last night to get my head examined, since the imbeciles at the ER wouldn't do so, and the official diagnosis from the collapse is a grade II concussion. I tried walking to only one of my classes for the first time yesterday, and I couldn't get but 200 feet outside my dorm without stopping, clutching my head, and taking deep breaths. I was sensitive to sunlight and just head bobbing while walking. Reading words hurts as well, so I'm actually typing this with eyes closed (and I'll edit after if there are any major mess-ups). I feel so useless right now; can't work, can't do ****. Can't drive... can't play guitar... can barely eat without complaining about my head. It sucks.

Oh, and happy 10,001st post to me.

Re: So, I fainted last night...

That sucks... hopefully in the end you just end up with a concussion and a freaky story to tell everyone! I had a grade II concussion in college from playing soccer, and I definitely remember feeling like I was in a daze for at least 2 or 3 days afterwards. It was a good week before I got my energy back, but at least I was able to function pretty normally after a few days.

As for the fainting, I myself have a slight case of "Vasovagal syncope"... so I have fainted a few times when having blood drawn or after recieving a shot. I know the feeling you're describing and it's certainly strange. Luckily I haven't had too many problems, and I know what to avoid (like donating blood!). I'm just sure to warn everyone basically whenever i'm in a hospital... it's not exactly something you can control.

                    Hope you're feeling better soon!

That's crazy Blzr. Hope it doesn't happen again.

I passed out once when I was younger during little league. Had a HARD scorching hit drill me in the lower chest/stomach area. I caught the ball, took the hit, made the throw, got the guy out... and then passed out.

That's the word I keep hearing! I would hear it over and over, but would never be able to repeat it or spell it correctly. Haha, thanks. That helps.

Strange, I thought passing out wasn't very common, but it seems as though a lot of you guys have done it (not due to alcohol, as well). I'm not sure what kinds of hits you took to the head, and maybe that's where mine is just a little different. I hope to recover soon. I don't want to miss any more classes.

As I was going to wash my face, I started getting that dizzy feeling that you get when you rise from a lay-down position too quickly. I thought it would just go away, but it didn't... it worsened. Within that 30 - 45 second span or so, I just kept talking to myself... trying to regain composure. I was thinking to myself, "No way you are going to pass out. That's impossible. That's a myth. There's no reason for me to pass out, and this isn't how it starts." I leaned against the shower wall with my forearm and forehead, trying to focus, when suddenly I wake up, lying on the ground, tepid water splashing my face, and my legs sticking out of the stall from underneath the drapes.

I shot up quickly, hoping nobody caught me lying there, when I suddenly realized: "... I just fainted!" I then felt major pain in the back of my head and tasted blood in my mouth. I spit it out, turned off the shower, grabbed my towel, ran out of the stall and bathroom and into the dorm hall where there were some other people. Feeling dizzy again, I faintly yelled, "Somebody help... I just passed out in the shower!" Then I fell again (due to imbalance this time), and stayed there till the police and paramedics came.

So, that's the story. They didn't bother with a CAT scan because I vividly recall the incident, but that doesn't mean I didn't suffer a concussion. The official diagnosis is "syncope", which, if you Wiki it, I'm sure you'll find out what it is. Basically, I was in the same condition as someone that faints because of seeing their own blood getting drawn out with a needle, only from a different cause. I was in the hospital for five hours, with an initial heart rate of 90 BPM with an instant decrease to 60 BPM. That was the most alarming issue to them... making sure nothing was wrong with my heart. Thankfully, nothing was. Unfortunately, the worst trauma is to my head, and I'm going to serve almost all of Wednesday night in my bed... with the exception of food and bathroom breaks.

Fainting is weird. You feel like you skipped a beat in something. You don't ever quite notice that you fell asleep or you woke up, but at the same time, you knew that time passed by. I can vividly recall everything that happened in my mind, even though I may not be able to describe it all. Waking up was the ultimate weirdest feeling in it all, however. Again, it can't be explained, but it wasn't a good feeling, knowing that I hit the back of my head on the floor without anything breaking my fall. Have you guys ever passed out/seizured before?

Wish me luck in getting better! I hope to God nothing like this ever happens again.

I had something like that happen to me a couple years ago, I got out of the shower and all of sudden felt complete weakness. I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke or something. Eventually I got the strength to get back up. Totally weird. Never happened again.

Ok I haven't read through all this thread but sometimes I feel like I have skipped a beat in time, but I don't faint. Its like I'm reading something then all of a sudden I'm on a different page or something, and I can't remember what happened. It hasn't happened to me in awhile but it has happened before, and its not just reading when it happens. It happens in baseball I will be playing outfield and somehow go from 0 outs to 2 outs without me even noticing. Just like I skipped time.
