Wow! Can you imagine. Playing jazz in New Orleans IN THE 1920's.

I'm sure he had a wonderful life with his music. Would have loved to have sat and talked to him about all that history that he saw. RIP.

100! What a life!

Wow, take solace in that this man lived a long, long life full of many rich experiences, for sure. Also be thankful that you were able to spend more time with him than most grandparents because he lived such a long life.

I love the fact he was a jazz legend, as classic jazz is my favorite genre of music.

My condolences to you and your family, man.

Sorry to hear about your grandpa jmood. Sorry it had to happen around the holidays. Just try to enjoy the memories of him and I bet you'll hear lots of stories about him with all the family around for Christmas that will provide even more memories of the man.

Sorry to hear that Mood, I lost my grandfather 2 years ago next week and he was only 74., I'm still not over it. 100. wow that a long time, I hope he lived and great life I hope you spent a lot of that time with him...I only had one grandfather, my mom's dad died a year before I was born.

Just popped on to this thread since I'm going through the same thing right now. My grandpa is 71 and has been in the hospital fighting numerous things for the past month, after being diagnosed with cancer a few weeks before that. My dad just called tonight to tell me that things are really bad, and he's only got a couple of days left. It's my first relative that I can remember to go and it just makes you think. It's going to be a sad weekend for sure.
