    Black Friday stories

Had a funny experience while waiting in line at Target. As 6am grew closer and the line was 100+ people (I was around the 25-35 range) I felt like I was in a herd and the herd was getting restless. About 2 minutes before they let us walk in you could see little groups start showing up in the parking lot. The line started to move and the scavengers on the outskirts made a dash for the door when one of the guys in the herd yelled at them to get in line. It didnt matter though they got in the store - the line collapsed and once in the store everyone was running for the goods. I figured when will I be able to run in Target again? So I took off. I got my stuff and noticed a women crying because she was pushed by someone, then I heard someone say that if the woman crying cant handle it dont come. Oh well I was able to get what I went for as well as some deals online when I got home and on Thanksgiving. All in all it was best Black Friday yet!

LOL! I don't understand waiting in line all night and going through that crap to save some money. I don't need anything that bad. I'll pass and will continue to pass (at least for now ..lol) save the extra money to get what I want, if not, then I just don't need it.

No way I am going to line up all night and be the 20th in line when they have like 6 items of what I want. It's crazy to me. I am glad you got what you wanted. Would of been awful if you did not.

What did you end up getting?

This is why I never go shopping on Black Friday. I have no patience and would end up flipping out on people that are pushing and shoving.

I agree with Dookie. I'll spend the extra money and keep my sanity!

Completely ridiculous. They talked about how punches flew in a store by me. Insanity I say.

I did this last year, not ever doing it again. People fighting in line, police having to come and break up a fight between people cutting in line........just not worth the aggravation and the cold weather.

I sat on my couch with my laptop and finished my holiday shopping for my wife.

I guess my question would be--what is wrong with people? Punches, pushing, cutting in line? I always sit on my couch and look foward to the idiots being shown on the news all day proud that they saved their 10 percent. I worked Black Fridays in high school and college, but I am certainly glad I don't have to do that anymore. It seems to get worse year after year.

I got in line at 5:15am (the store opened at 6am) I wound up getting a 8.2mp camera, 1gb sdcard, NBA2k8, Skate and some board games (for kids) I didnt think the camera would of been around since it was $89

The gifts were for my wife, son, daughter and niece - I probably wouldnt of gotten the camera or nba2k8 at regular price so yah it was worth going early to get the discount.

Yeah, I got that camera for my daughter too. I was really surprised, but they had a bunch. I got there at 6 when they opened, but there was a line all the way down to the home depot way down at the other end of the little shopping center. I said, "no way am I standing in a dumb line." I waited until everyone was in and then I walked in. Walked straight to electronics and they had some still. From what I read, it's a nice camera, especially for $89. Then went next door to Office Max when they opened and got a couple 2GB SD cards for $12.99 each. Not bad. Also got the last standing jewelry armoire they had for my wife. Overall, I had a good day. Not much stress and got everything I wanted to get.

Yeah I did it last year and didn't get jack squat, except tired from being up that morning. I think it's a waste of time, most of those great deals they advertise aren't available at all I think, I've been into stores first and they say they are sold out, it's a big bait and switch scam for the most part.

The lady in line behind me was literally on the phone for the whole 20-30 minutes we were in line. I think she called everyone in her contacts list telling them about the great deals she got on whatever she had. I don't know about you guys, but I'd be a little ticked off if someone called me at 7 in the morning telling me about all of the money they saved on what they bought.

My daughter is working at Target this year. She has been closing this week and getting home at 3 AM. In preparation for today, she re-wrote the words to a well known Matchbox 20 tune:

                            3 AM (TARGET)

He tells me something for which I don’t have the training
And he hands me a stray cart
He’s always worried about things like that
He says there’s a lot of go backs and it might as well take all night
And we only stop when it's our second lunch time
And she screams and her patience is feigning

                            She says baby
It's 3 am and I’m still at target
                            When she says baby
Well I can't help but be fed up with it all sometimes
They say black Friday includes a buffet yeah, I believe, I quit

She's got a little bit of gingerbread, God it's better than nothing
And with her jewelry keys they think she knows it all
She swears the team members don’t answer radios quite as much as they used to
And the underwear on the floor keeps remaining
And she dreams that she only has an hour remaining

                            She says baby
It's 3 am and I’m still at target
                            When she says baby
Well I can't help but be fed up with it all sometimes
They say black Friday includes a buffet yeah, I believe, I quit

She believes that target is made up of all that you're used to
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days
She thinks that happiness is sign that hangs in the break room
                            But outside they’re all smoking

                            She says baby
It's 3 am and I’m still at target

I used to work retail and will never forget what happened one year. One old lady was stocking up on items at a well known store when she was bumped, fell down, and hit her head. Paramedics had to be called in and while we were trying to set up a little perimeter around her people were stepping over her and looting her cart. People are crazy...
