Back in the day you could get the cleanest fade in your life for a dollar, add 2 more a shave and trim. These days it costs 10-15 bucks for a temple taper. Used to go see the latest movies for a dollar each too. One dollar.

Every time I go to visit family near the Bay Area and we go shopping for food, everything I get here is like $2-3 more expensive, even items that are under $10.Comment

Re: Boy, it sure has gotten expensive to live.
That sounds about right. I live 125 miles from there. That's a $5,500.00 a year property tax bill. Think about it. How many people take home $5,500.00 a month. If it's not part of your house payment you have to come up with that chunk of money once a year. They probably take out loans to pay their property tax. (At least we have Prop. 13....and the stinkin' politicians are trying to skirt around that).Comment

Re: Boy, it sure has gotten expensive to live.
Are you talking with regards to how much people make out there compared to what they make here?
I only ask because I looked for a job in the Bay Area for around 6 months a two years ago. Based on what I found, with regards to housing and food cost, it would have been very hard for me to live in the Bay Area compared to living a comfortable life here. That's looking for a job in the restaurant industry. The jobs I did find would have barely paid me enough to rent an apartment and pay my bills, much less actually live a decent life and be able to afford things like a PS3 and/or 360.
I'm sure the area I was looking in, Contra Costa County, had a lot to do with it, but it's the only area I really know out there, and it's where my family lives.Last edited by Chaos81; 12-14-2007, 09:04 PM.Comment

Re: Boy, it sure has gotten expensive to live.
Not sure that is totally the case. WHile it's gotten better, the cost of housing went so out of whack here for a while, that salaries did not support the cost of living in Southern California.Comment

Re: Boy, it sure has gotten expensive to live.
That's what got me when I was looking in the Bay Area. My 33 year old cousin had to move back home for a few months, because her company wasn't making enough over the summer for her to even afford an apartment. Like you said, it's gotten better, but it's still crazy in my mind.Comment

Figure on an average you've spent 1 min per post. Which means you've spent ~757 hours (rounded up) on OpSports making posts. Or 31.5 days if you like that number better...
I dont know if I should be scared, impressed, or feel totally inadequate!
