Never, ever answer a cell phone while it is being RECHARGED!! A few days ago, a person was recharging his cell phone at home. Just at that time a
call came in and he answered it with the instrument still connected to the outlet. After a few seconds electricity flowed into the cell phone unrestrained and the young man was thrown to the ground with a heavy
thud. His parents rushed to the room only to find him unconscious, with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers.
He was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Cell phones are a very useful modern invention. However, we must be aware that it can also be an instrument of death! Never use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet!

My N64 about caught on fire. Scared the sh** out of me. Plug it in, turn it on then zzzzzzzzzzzz with sparks. I really wanted to play my Pokemon Stadium game that day to...lol.

Yeah man......
I was sleep and I see two flashes of light in the room....so im thinking maybe its some car lights from outside or something. All the sudden BOOM!!!! My X-Box (and KOTOR) are on fire. The bad thing is, its blocking the exit to my room....so I reach for the glass of water on my nightstand and prepare to throw it.....then I realized how dumb that would be for a electrical fire.....so I call my bro from downstairs to come and put it out with the fire ex.

crazy stuff.....

thing is, when I call Microsoft they 1) acted like its a normal thing 2) are scared to death I would sue....they asked me if I was ok like 50 times......they ended up sending me a new X-Box, 2 new controllers and KOTOR lol

Totally unrelated but funny story none the less...

When I was a child I was playing NES and our rabbit walked behind the system and decided to chew right threw the power cord. Blew the damn system right up. Our rabbit just hoped away like nothing happend. I guess current doesn't affect them as much as humans.

I've talked while my phone is charging a lot. Maybe it's certain phones, or matters whether you use speakerphone or not.

Usually, I use speakerphone so I can multitask.

Ahhh... When something sounds too foolish to be true, Snopes is always there to give an answer. Talking on a charging cell phone is fine. There shouldn't be any problems.

you never know man, talking on your cell phone at the gas station shouldnt have been a problem either......

It's not a problem. I do it all the time. I also go back into my car occasionally, and I've never started a fire from static electricity.

I did/do it all the time as well... especially whens its one of those times your GF doesn't want to get off the phone.

I also do it all the time in my car when its charging... although I use blue tooth so I don't know if that matters.

the cell phone at a gas station stuff is also a myth. If there's enough gas vapor around or static charge potential for a cell phone to explode the whole city block, starting your car would do it too. It's just a case of being too over cautious.
