Haven't had one for the past two years. I always chuckle to myself when I think about this fact since our family is somewhat well off yet we don't have a houseline. It just got to the point where ONLY salespeople would call- so aggrevating. Plus society is a cell phone driven machine now all of us in the house are reached strictly by them. I don't know any friends or family who don't have a house phone. Nobody in the fam really seems to care, there's five of us living here too.

I'm required to have a landline for work....in case they need to do a recall(like on September 11th), but I'd probably have one anyway considering in a blackout, they will work(yep, I keep an old style phone in the house just for this instance) in case there is no electric for a few days.

I have to have one for work as well...as well as for my home alarm system. I turn the ringer off though and just have it hooked up to an answering machine. I check my messages every day or so...and after months and months have had only 1 or 2 that I actually cared about.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment
