first and foremost, the Simpsons Arcade game, which is probably the only Simpsons game that was actually good. it was impossible to beat it without pumping in like 100 quarters with 4 players each, but me and three friends actually did beat once. Totally worth it.

NES was out when I was kid, but the arcade was still where it was at. Here's some of my favorites:

I remember the one with the gun was always my favorite, I think it was Lethal Enforcers.

man, I would go to the arcade here in Bloomington when i was kid at least 3 times a week in the summer. This was the early-mid 80s when arcades where huge, and I would play original star wars game (1983 i think) forever. Also, Super Sprint, Ivan Stewart Off Road, Karate Champ, Yer Kung fu, Ms Pac Man ( i loved it so much I bought an original cabinet and have it in my basement), and so many more legends like frogger, asteroids, and the lot. Arcades where a great place, and now they have gone by the wayside. The one here now only has those dancing games and some others that use big guns.

3) John Elway's Quarterback - Not gonna be on a lot of people's lists, but I loved this game. You could really air it out and it had a huge variety of teams to choose from. Good sound effects on big hits too.

And there was a racing game like the football with x's and o's where the racer was just a little box with 4 smaller boxes as well. Controlled real well though, but completely forgot the name

I lived in the arcades from the start. Was a great Galaga and Dig Dug player. I always liked watching people play Dragon's Lair but was never any good at it. I can remember wasting many a quarter on Donkey Kong Jr., Tempest, & Popeye also

NBA Jam was FANTASTIC. Can you imagine if they brought it out on XBL Arcade with updated rosters? I used to play it to death on dial-up using X-Band on the SNES!

Give me NBA Jam:TE '08 on XBL Arcade with 4 player support!

TMNT, Rampage, and Gauntlet were always the games that would draw the biggest crowds at the arcades I went to as a kid.

A ton of Street Fighter games, so much so that I bought Street Fighter 2 championship arcade. That thing has been beatin to death but its still going though!

Sunset Riders, Xmen, TMNT and The Simpsons side scrollers.

That boxing game with two joysticks.

Ton of air hockey.

Different racing games.

Dude that game kick major ***. Until I got my skin stuck in that roller. lol What about WWF game? That was a blast. I think you had to fight Ted D at the end.

My dad bought one of these for the house when he was on his "game room" kick. I must of been about 8 years old. I wanted to play it soooo bad, but all I could do was pinch my tender little hand in the roller ball. He only kept it about 6 months and it was out of my life. I've never seen one since.

In HS, there was this pizza joint we went to for lunch everyday with our open campus benefits. They had an NBA Jam arcade in there. We went so much we broke into the back of the machine and it was some little button you'd press on the inside of the machine right behind the coin slots. We'd give ourselves dozens and dozens of credits and attempt to beat the game. Of course we never did get to beat the 29 or so NBA teams you had to beat but we got awful close. Our records never saved because you had to switch the machine off in order to do our cheat.

Good times.

By the way, the guy who ran the pizza joint was a lame so he never attempted to say anything. Ethier that or he enjoyed playing the game for free himself.

Man, all pizza joints had some sort of arcade game back then. That, and comic book joints would always have something as well.

There was a laundromat down the street from Germantown Pizza in Philly (it should still be there). Anywho, there used to be two arcade games I would always play while visiting family: TMNT & X-Men (which was replaced by The Simpsons).

My other arcade favorites:

yeah, i got it off ebay for 250 bucks and it was pickup from a comic book store in Phoenix. It was a bitch to move but well worth it. It's still in great condition, with some cabinet damage like the corner is messed up but no biggie. The video gets scrambled if we play too long but its fixed when you reset it.
