Re: OS merging with DSM
i disagree because i disagree. its not my fault that everyone thinks im joking when i post because my views are different then theirs.Originally posted by bkrich83Just do what I do and put him on ignore. Some people just can't accept the fact, people have a differing opinion than theirs.Originally posted by bkrich83It's become my favorite feature. Re: OS merging with DSM
But nobody on DSM is really about being a "Big Shot" or whatever either. What keeps me coming back to that site is 1.) The Soap Box and 2.) The NCAA/NFL forums. Those are two forums with a group of people who know each other and understand each other's personalities (for the most part), and people just hang out and have a good time. When people want help they ask and usually get it, and when people want to vent they do, and people let them without getting on their case about it for the most part (unless it's some nonsense like "OMG, I'M SO DRUNK ON STEEL RESERVE!!"). No one person is bigger than the forums, and no one tries to be. It's just a good group of guys that feels like the floor of a dorm.
At least that's the way I (and many other DSM people seem to) see it.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: OS merging with DSM
As long as OS doesn't turn into a Digg/Fark/RealGM type place, I'm ok. I cannot stand any of that garbage. Digg has arguably the most moronic people I have ever seen in my life.Comment

I guess from my point of view I've "been there and done that". I'm 27, I lived in the dorms one year and then moved into a fraternity house. I've drank a ishload of alcohol (beer or hard stuff), I've done a billion different stupid things that "seemed like a good idea at the time". I loved my time in college, but I wouldn't want to live it now. I'm glad I grew up out of that phase, because if I was living like I did in college I really wonder how long I'd live.
I know that's a drastic difference, and more dramatic than necessary, just pointing out that thought. You also need to keep in mind that OS was trying to be more inviting to youth and families, and that "dorm room" attitude (or frat house, whatever) just can be quite crude and offputting.
I'm not boring now, I still have tons of fun, just that my life is now different than being in a house with all guys, you know? People grow, change, adapt and I personally just like a slightly more mature forum. Hell, I'd personally like the "Everything Else" forum back. I don't always agree with how OS was run, but I just know I don't want it to turn into IGN or Gamefaqs. I see OS as a cool group of guys, maybe just more like college graduates as opposed to recent high school grads. A lot of the guys I'm friends with here are actually older than me, so perhaps it's just the ages showing....
I see where you DSM guys are coming from though, and I'm willing to bet that we're a lot closer than you might think. This was by far the worst way to try and integrate us, but that's a topic for a different day.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: OS merging with DSM
That's what I was thinking as well. A lot of new members may see OS as "immature," but a lot of the topics somehow relate to the inside jokes that evolved from other threads. Such as the whole TJ puddle "incident" or Acid's sister and everything that leads to. Which is what the newer members may miss out on.Colorado Avalanche (NHL)
Denver Nuggets (NBA)
Green Bay Packers (NFL)
Iowa Hawkeyes (NCAA)
Minnesota Twins (MLB)
