Good luck man, what your final goal?

My doctor says that he wants me to be between 210 and 220 pounds. I'm 6 foot and the "ideal" weight going by traditional methods is 180 pounds but I have a very large chest and torso so I don't think i'll ever get to that. Plus, I don't think I'd really want to get to that weight either, not to brag but I'm pretty muscular in my chest and torso (although some of it is still covered by some fat still) so I mostly just want to lose the fat and keep the muscle.

I appreciate everyones comments and losing weight is probably honestly one of the most difficult things to ever do in life. And I know I've heard it said before, and you all probably have to but weight loss is mostly about getting the mental aspect down pat. Once you get that aspect down, get into that right "frame of mind", you can succeed. Most people, including myself in the past, never stick with it long enough though to get there.

Also, I've done tremendous amounts of research on the internet on losing weight and being healthy. In fact, you might say it's become somewhat of a hobby of mine. At this point i've gone beyond just wanting to lose my weight and into the area of wanting to better my overall health. I will say this, having lead a life where i've not been exposed to hard physical labor or had to be outside has tremendously helped my looks in regards to appearing younger.

Having seen some of my classmates on my recent trip home for the Holidays some of them have not aged well at all. Although part of it is genetics, when I graduated I looked about 10 years old. At the time I hated it but now approaching 40 years old I love it! I have people guess my age and they usually guess about 28-32 range. I've never had anyone guess my true age of 37.

Wow good for you ODogg! Keep up the good work. We're definitely all rooting for you to reach your goal.

On a side note, I'm just trying to picture my life without beer...just as I suspected...drawing a blank.

Good job buddy! I'm planning on starting to try and lose weight when I get back to Radford and I have a chance to get to the campus gym with some of my friends. I need it because I'm a hefty 251 pounds or so.

Dec 07 - 252 pounds

I still have about 35 to 40 more pounds to lose so hopefully in 2008 I can ....in the immortal words of Mortal Kombat.........FINISH 'EM!!

Those glasses look like they weigh about ten pounds, so just taking those off should significantly affect the scale.

Haha, I think you're right about that. I don't wear glasses all the time as my good, small pair broke but i'll be getting a new set here after the New Years. I should weigh those glasses just to see how much they do weigh, they feel like they weigh a pound at least I think.
