    stupid boss...

So in my job we have things called safety assessments that we have to have done in the first 7 days of our investigation. If they aren't done in the first 7 days...it really isn't a big deal, just as long as they get done soon.

Well i have a few delinquent ones (5 to be exact) and my boss in all of her wisdom sent me an email stating I could not leave the office untill they were done, no big deal right? Well she then printed the email and tapped it onto the front of my office door allowing everyone in the office to see. She also did the exact same thing to a fellow co-worker.

I hate my boss, I have been in my office with my door open and she has been in my co-workers office talking trash about me and I could hear everything she has said. Since she has been a supervisor she has not kept any of her workers. She has lost a total of 8 investigators so far who have quit. 3 have been new hire's and 5 have been tenured workers with an average of 2+ years experience in diffrent investigation units. A few have even been in tougher citys (such as dallas and houston), where the case load is much higher and stressfull than it is here in ft. worth. UGH

So have any storys about your bosses? Sorry that I am bitching by the way, was just annoying walking to my office today with that email taped to the front of it.

My boss called me into his office today and I thought I was getting fired. I ended up getting a raise. Is that similar? /sarcasm

This is my first job and my boss is cool so no complaints. I'm only 22 so I'll come back in about 10 years with my stories!

Does this happen? you get called into your bosses office thinking of getting fired and you get a raise? You must of had your yearly review and were being sarcastic about getting fired?

I haven't worked in a corporate place since I'm still in school but I hate people at these stupid *** part time jobs who take their jobs so seriously. They have no stock in the company and are getting paid 7.50 an hour yet they act like what they're doing is important.

Honestly, you're gonna have this problem until you take action. Your boss will continue to have this behavior until she is stopped. She is only human. For her to talk about you to another co-worker is disrespectful and very unprofessional. At that point, you should've politely interrupted their conversation and asked her "May I speak to you in private?" If she refuses, and starts an argument, don't react to it. Press that you need to speak to her in private. This does a few things:

          *Makes you look professional

*Makes her look childish and might embarrass her

*Makes her aware that you have a problem with the situation.

*Makes her think twice before she disrespects you.

*Lets any co-workers in the area know the same.

*Gives her NO ammunition to write you up. You went in there calmly and
simply asked to speak to her in private.

*You have witnesses if she does decide to write you up.

Is there any type of human resource manager at the workplace. If so, explain to him/her about the situation. If you have a HRM, I'm sure they're aware of her track record (8 investigators quitting).

Stick it out and don't be the 9th.

Only been here two months. They actually just upped the starting salary. I honestly thought I was getting fired for faking some stuff like putting footnotes where I left messages with people and I really didn't.

He called me up and was like "can you come in?" and I went over there and he pulled out a paper showing my pay increase.

Only two months in my entire life working so far. I still don't know what to expect from these so-called meetings but I hope they're all like that.

                    I see this point.

When I worked at Shaw's grocery store there was this guy who worked there a few years, and his job was pushing carts, and I guess he did some maintenance too. He acted like he was the president of the company though. Constantly talking about and complaining about everything aspect of the store and the company. Even my manager said to me that he takes the job way too seriously.

No. I'm hating on people who take their meaningless jobs way too seriously. When you work at Dairy Queen or TJ Maxx you don't need to be so serious about everything like you're the CEO.

I agree, I worked for Blockbuster Video for about 6 months. I was just a csr. My boss and all the supervisors were very very strict. They ate, breathed, and slept Blockbuster. It was nausiating really. I got embarassed a number of times by my bosses for not doing things "the Blockbuster way", They got done, just not the right way aparently. If i didnt understand something they made me feel like a total idiot. I mean come on they rent movies and they act like they cure cancer.

Something wrong with working hard? Damn man. You know, some of those people will get promoted in the company eventually and could end up doing well.

Nothings wrong with it but I do see what jmood is saying, some people take that stuff way too seriously.

Nothing wrong with taking your job seriously and working hard, but some people take it to uneccessary extremes.

There's nothing wrong with working hard and those people that I'm talking about haven't been promoted and more than likely won't be promoted anytime soon. I don't care if someone wants to work hard but if they want to act like an *** or like they know more than you that's when they need to calm down.
