You know, although I agree with your sarcasm, he's going to have to face that kind of talk in his own mind alot while he's trying to get established. That's the main thing that take out new businesses within the first 3 years.

If he has a vision he has to be totally willing to follow through despite what other people say, and even the thoughts that come to his mind.

Naturally, you're either a fool or completely naive to think those odds don't apply to you. I honestly don't know why anyone would ever want to open a restaurant. Awful hours, hard work, constant client interaction and they bitch about everything (food is too cold, hot, spicy, etc). That's of course if you're lucky enough to build up a strong enough clientele.

I have tremendous respect for anyone who has built their own restaurant from the ground up.

We have a few family friends that have done it. Its amazing the time and dedication put in. Especially if you own and run a stand alone restaurant. As compared to a chain restaurant. You here stories about having to be at the site at 3AM for the seafood deliveries and not leaving until 11PM, and thats even before the restaurant closes for the night.

Agreed, there are a few friends of mine who have talked about starting up a restaraunt similar to Buffalo Wild Wings and they asked me if I would be a part of it.

It wasn't a difficult decision for me to say no. That was three years ago and they still haven't gotten enough things in order to get started. But at least they keep trying.

Just out of curiosity here, have you ever managed a restaurant?
