I feel safe no matter where I go. In my opinion most violent acts that you here about on the news,(murders, battery, assault, etc...) are committed by people who know the victim, and are related in some way(family, friend, drugs).

Random acts of violence are uncommon...(robberies, car jackings.etc...) The only reason they may seem in abudance is because of the media.

The other thing is that the news blows everything out of proportion, its their job. The news industry is a business just as much as grocery stores, electronic stores, etc....

As for terrorist... well they don't scare me either. I refuse to be scared of a coward.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

That's true. I guess it just comes down to watching who you hang out with.

That's true. However, the definition of "knowing the victim" doesn't just mean someone you hang out with on the weekend.

thats true. But an overwhelming majority of the time, there has been some sort of falling out between the parties involved that led to the crime.

Random acts of violence are rare. Property crimes are not. I protect my house like a fort when I'm gone but realize if something is going to happens, it's going to happen. I have insurance and everything can be replaced.

As for my own personal safety I rarely go outside without my firearm. Glock 27 .40 cal with a 10 round magazine and night sights. Better to have and not need, than need and not have.
