Just won something on the radio!!

About 15 minutes ago I was driving home from work, I was listening to the local sports raidio show XX1090 here in San Diego.

When Darren Smith (Host) asked if anyone wanted to win March Madness for the Xbox 360 and gave the number to call.

Mind you I never call radio station's to win anything, heck I just got another Cell Phone after being w/out one for about a year. (I hate cell phones)

Anyways I call and guess what?

The guy picks up and ask me if I want to play a radio game show named head to head. I said "sure", he then put me on hold.

About 5 minutes later I was on the radio and was introduced to the audiance and my opponent.

The game is there is a question we take turns answering, whoever gets the 1st one wrong loses.

I proceed to pull over cuz I'm kinda nervous and still can't belive I'm on the radio.

They pose the question "There have been 7 NCAA teams to win both a national championship in both Div1A football and basketball"

Didn't have to be the same year. So my mind is racing being put on the spot I couldn't think straight for a minute. But I collected my thoughts and tried to think.

Darren says the other guys goes 1st since I guess he called 1st.

My opponent says "Do you want em all now?" they say no one at a time.

He answers with Michigan and he is correct.

My turn, I try to say something witty like "well if he has all of them ready I'm in trouble" No one really laughed but whatever..

I answer with Florida, last team to do it, also in the same year.

His turn he says.... LSU..... Darren asked "When did they win the basketball tittle?" he said something about Pistol Pete. Anyways he was wrong!!!

I still had to answer one more though, I answered with UCLA and... the bells went off and I had won

They asked if by chance I knew another, I guessed Ohio State and was right!!

I told em I didn't know anymore, they transferred me to get my info and said I could pick it up tommorrow!!!

I have Choops but hey a free game is a free game. I'll try it out.

Well that was crazy. I never win nothing either.

I've won my fair share of stuff from that same radio station. In fact, I got to know Darren after one of the events and we ended up hanging out a few times and we still talk from time to time.

I don't listen to that station, simply because I can't stand Philly Billy.

OK, what are the other schools on the list besides Florida, UCLA, Michigan and Ohio State? I can think of two right from the top of my head:

Syracuse (1959 football, 2003 basketball)
Michigan St.

I believe Maryland fills out the magnificent seven.

and man i wish i got something like choops to give away on my morning show, the best thing i've given away is backstage passes to an after party with rob zombie. while thats not bad, most of my prizes consist of free food haha.

Yep...working at a news/talk now. Used to have a sports talk show.

It's actually not that hard to get video games to give away. I started in market # 170 and it was easy to get EA and 2K to send us games to give away.
